The only thing I can come up with is the cage might be having issues with temperature consistency/dropping temps since there's no way to keep the heat in or control it well, and the dust. Dusty substrates should be avoided because they can cause some health issues, and I assume that a dusty room is similar to a dusty substrate. Could it be a combination of a drafty enclosure and a dusty environment causing the possible RI? Sorry if that's not really helpful.
Another thing I'd like to point out is that the cage is probably too small. None of the pet store guinea pig cages are an adequate size for guinea pigs, who have roughly the same enclosure size requirements as bearded dragons. You may want to consider upgrading to a larger size and to a glass tank when you can. There are plenty of inexpensive tanks available on Craigslist and similar sites. You can also try building your own. I also recommend adding a bit more enrichment to the tank-climbing branches, plants, rocks, or even one of those fleece small animal tents that you can hang on the cage bars.
