If its over 6 months old it needs to be changed out--- distance would be 6-8 inches directly over the basking decor --- please get it adjusted and then watch his behavior --- keep me posted please-------------- also please get a Reptisun 10.0 T 8 they are a way better bulb ---- that one your using is a cheap china one pardon me

its a fine mesh witch im thinking about replacing with something different cause it blocks out a bit of uvb light.

Also juvenile beardie seems alot more spicy as in he is running around and jump and climb on his log he also is trying to climb up the fake rock tiles on back wall witch i thought was weird

my adult beardie that wouldn’t come out of his hide is doing great he has bot went to go hide since i changed the substrate so it must be helping

Could be lots of reasons - size of tank too small-- tank is too hot-- your uvb is expired-- post a pic if the tank so I can see it please

So i bought my beardie a new log hide and he never comes out unless i show him mealworm then he comes out. I dont think its a people friendly problem hes not scared of people at all. Any reason why he is hiding so much?

Hi; 1st if all remove the sand asap & please stop feeding mealworms it’s horrible for them and impacts them. He has ingested sand more than likely and the temps mite be off. It mite be blazing hot or not hot Enuff. Also if u don’t have the correct UVB he won’t be able to eat or move slowly nearing death due to MBD. Give him a warm bath in dechlorinated water for 15min minimum to get him to poop; buy reptisafe to remove the chlorine. Then Use paper towels or white terry cloths as a substrate, feed only crickets and Dubia roaches for proteins; u can add superworms as treats if he’s over a year old. And always a plate of fresh veggies and greens placed on the cold side. The best everyday ones are: mustard greens, collard greens, dandelions, yellow squash, butternut squash, endives, green beans, & snap peas. Cut them up to small pieces and mix 2-3 of each daily. Also; He can’t eat without basking first for a few hours and needs 2hours to digest their food. U need the zoomed clear basking bulb for heat and the Reptisun 10.0 T5 for UVB. It’s a long tubular bulb & the length u order should cover 70 percent of the tank. Please please please replace this uvb bulb every 6Mnths or he will have brittle bones, shakes, tremors, unable to eat or walk, which leads to MBD then death. The temp for a Beardie under 7mnths old should be 100-105 and for a Beardie older than 9mtnhs the temp should be 95-97. Use a digital thememoter & digtial hygrometer for humidity; the humidity should always be between 30-40 and never higher than 40. Keep the uvb and heat light on for 10-12 hours in the winter; more like 10’cuz they have less energy in the winter they mimic the sun. And keep both lights on for 12-14 hours in the summer; more like 14. At nite when they sleep; lights off, pure dark, quiet & no lights on ever. In the winter u may use a ceramic heat emitter which emits heat but no light. If he’s under 6mnths old u can use the heat emitter during the winter and summer till he gets older than 6Mnths then just use it in the winter. If u change and apply all of the above & he’s still hiding; then he may be brumating but typically they do this in the winter mnths. Google it to read about it. But doubtful I can guaranteee you it’s the sand, mealworms, and lighting/uvb. Please fix and I will see him back to life.

Hi; we rescue and rehome. Sadie please please STOP telling people to get the 5.0 uvb this emits little to NO UVB. Order the Reptisun 10.0 T5 and make sure the beardie has a hideaway; u can get a Hammock with a cloth over it so underneath can be his shade away from uvb or a big hideaway that he can fit into. The Beardie is goign crazy in the tank because it’s blazing hot or tanknis too small. A baby/juvenile should be in a 40 gallon and when he turns 8-9mnths get him a bigger tank 120 gallon. For heat use a clear zoomed basking bulb. Never use a powersun those are deadly and cannot be used with other bulbs.

You need to read my post ----- I do not tell people to get the 5.0 bulb--- the 24" fixture COMES. W/ the 5.0 bulb and I tell them to order the 22" Reptisun 10.0 bulb--- 5.0 bulbs can be used on smaller tanks like 20 and 30 gallon till they upgrade to bigger tanks--- GO BACK AND READ!!!!

Im glad to hear your dragons are acting better, the juvenile will be restless, each dragon is different, some (like mine, are totally lazy/docile and will sometimes even wait to be moved into the heat/uvb) ive also noticed they get very frantic right before a poo, my beardie will run all over her enclosure, once she’s relived herself she’s completely docile, just monitor them both and let us know if u have anymore questions or concerns :)

Please get rid of the walnut shell ASAP-- that stuff is toxic to dragons--- use some paper towels for now-- where is the T 5 ? Top of screen or inside the tank
YES remove that substrate asap. Use paper towels or white terry cloth towels. Also, has the UVB light been replaced? It needs replacing every 6Mnths., it will still turn on but emits little to NO uvb after 6mtnhs. Please replace if it hasn’t been done.

Silkworms are a good staple feeder- mealworms are better for older dragons not babies-- too much impaction risk w/ the exoskeleton in them -- silks are very soft

They are both larvae stages of bugs, but they are very different kinds, mealworms i really dont feed my beardy, i think i only fed them once or twice, they’re very hard to digest and tbh, they’re kinda a “nothing bug” in my opinion they’re basically just air, if ur gonna feed worms feed super worms, they have more moisture, protein, and fat than a mealworm, ive actually ordered my first silkworms for my beardy yesterday, ill let you know how she likes them, ive only ever fed hornworms as a catapillar.

Ok so i ordered suggested uvb for lizards and i build a better roof for tanks so uvb is inside tank also got a wood floor looking non adhesive shelf liner for inside there tanks also got crickets for them insted of mealworms and they seem happier. The adult beardie is eating, drinking, climbjng around on his rocks alot also he does come out of his hide quite often now and really the only times i see him in his hide is at night time
