So i bought my beardie a new log hide and he never comes out unless i show him mealworm then he comes out. I dont think its a people friendly problem hes not scared of people at all. Any reason why he is hiding so much?

Can u go over your lighting, heat type, uvb type, im almost certain its that, unless ur beardy is going into brumation he should be out eating and poopin, how old is the dragon? Additionally, whats substrate is that?

The dragon should not be going into brumation --- bad lighting and incorrect temps in the tank will cause similar behavior --- please post what your using for a UVB coil or tube and basking temps and how your taking them

his daily diet is mustard green, kale, a little bit of orange bell pepper chopped up into bite size and a couple dubia roaches every other day

Please get rid of the walnut shell ASAP-- that stuff is toxic to dragons--- use some paper towels for now-- where is the T 5 ? Top of screen or inside the tank

You can use paper towels for now-- and you can replace w/ some textured NON adhesive shelf liner-- from your local home improvement store- cut to the size of the tank

Id personally use paper towels, paper bags cut up (this one was my favorite to use) these two will let u analyze your new dragons stool for the first couple of days till u figure out what ur doing decor wise or, tile will probably be the best for cleaning, but its bad on joints if u have high decor. Please get that substrate out as soon as possible, let us know if he improves.

Very good , he looks happier already, i like your diy enclosures, very nice, if possible for big guys uvb, can u move it to the left 4-6 inches? You want him getting the uvb along with the basking, I understand the it can get to hot , so thats why u have ur distance..

Also, it looks like for the juvenile dragons uvb, it has a plastic cover? If so take it off, really you want a light fixture with a reflector in it like how mine has (i turned it off btw)

You want distance for a T 5 12-15 inches directly above the basking decor---are you sure it's a T 5 I have never seen a T 5 fixture w/ a plastic cover--

Literally not even an hour after cleaning all the shells out wiz (the 5 year old) just had to move the dang paper towels and did a poo right on the wood floor lol
also removed plastic cover thing off the light and moved the fixtures over more so its more above the basking spot

15 watt t8 bp is what bulb says
that makes sense w / the clear plastic cover ---- how old is the T 8 ? If its over 6 months old it needs to be changed out--- distance would be 6-8 inches directly over the basking decor --- please get it adjusted and then watch his behavior --- keep me posted please-------------- also please get a Reptisun 10.0 T 8 they are a way better bulb ---- that one your using is a cheap china one pardon me
