My baby dragon has a dangerous problem. She chews on everything she finds!!!! Even things in her tank that aren't 100% secure, she chews. She's eaten plastic, parts of her hammock (which is why I'm DESPERATELY trying to get her a new basking spot) and even sold things such as her log hide!!!!! I've tried to keep clean but nothing works. We haven't had any truly serious issues yet but I'm deathly afraid of blockage, choking, and other health problems. Do dragons teethe?? Does this mean something like lacking nutrients?? What should I do to stop her??

Yes shes lacking something in her diet--- are you feeding any kind of calcium and vitamins w/ beta carotene supplements if not I recommend you get some calcium D3 dust the insects ONCE per feeding lightly coated 5 x per week -- vitamins w/ beta carotene dust the insects ONCE per feeding lightly coated 2 x per week -- what is her diet? she needs salads every morning http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html ignore the kale thing its a good staple feeder-- the next thing is the UVB NO coils --- you need a long tube fixture like a Zoo Med or Sunblaster or a Arcadia w/ a Reptisun 10.0 T 5 or Arcadia 12% Desert bulb for tanks 40+ gallon --- this UVB will help the calcium absorb or synthesize the calcium she is eating --

I dust her feeders with calcium but I didn't know I needed vitamins what kind should I get? I have the long 10.0 fixture and she is currently in a 55 gallon fish tank.

Ok the long tube fixture is what brand? I recommend the Reptisun 10.0 T 5 distance and placement is crucial please tell me where you have it and the screen on the tank--- is it a fine mesh like a screen door or a wide hole type? Reptivite is a good brand for vitamins

Thank you for all the help, I'm pretty sure it's Reptisun and it's pretty close to the basking spot, I just ordered a probe to measure her basking area and it will probably come in in a few days. It's a wire mesh top, I don't exactly know what brand it is because I got it off Facebook, but the holes are pretty small.

I need the bulb it's either a T 5 or T 8 look on the bulb please--- those numbers determine distance - it needs to go inside the tank for a fine mesh the screen is blocking 30% of the rays-- how long is the hood/ fixture? I can post some things tomorrow to help you hang it in the tank

Ok I will post some tomorrow- if there is a plastic cover over the bulb take it off - also how old is the T 8? If it's over 6 months it needs to be replaced- I recommend changing it at 5 months-- distance for a T 8 should be 6-8 inches directly over the basking decor--

I think I got it around Febuary, so I'll be good for a few months. Is it any different since the current basking platform is a seagrass hammock?? I just recently learned it was bad and it might take me a little while to replace it

Hammocks are hard to get basking temps make sure your using a digital probe thermometer place the probe on the spot she sits and get temp- I am not sure about the seagrass seems I had heard something quite awhile back but I can't remember what was said- if in doubt and you still want to use a hammock go here and get one- you want a cloth or fleece www.pamperedbeardies.com
The mesh tend to catch the claws on the dragon and cause sprains etc.... PetSmart has really nice easy to clean dragon decor

Once you get the UVB properly placed watch her behavior - we need to start there to see if it corrects the eating everything- usually there is a issue w/ fake plants but that is because they are green but w/ the plastic and hammock stuff it's usually something she's lacking and w/ the UVB rays being blocked I am thinking it's a calcium defiency

Oh okay so do I give her more calcium? I usually dust her crickets five days a week. I will get vitamins as soon as possible should that make her better?

Yes give her the calcium D 3 as I posted - the vitamins are given as a supplement since she's a baby and needs them especially if she's not eating a lot of salad- so she could be lacking something there as well-- but the UVB is extremely important- it will help her absorb the calcium and prevent mbd- among other health issues-

Should I feed her collards and mustards daily and should I put calcium and (when I get them) vitamins on top of them?

I would feed salad daily is what I do. If they don’t like salad leave it out during the. My baby as he gets hungry will come down to eat a bit of greens. And iw Luke dust with multivitamin
