Some of my kids spend an hour basking, others spend the better part of the day. I don't think there's much of a set average. I've found the best prices at local reptile expos, but you can order them from various feeder insect websites. They definitely aren't cheap, which is why many of us have started our own colonies.
Dubia have a higher meat to shell ratio. One large dubia is the equivalent to 5 to 7 large crickets. There are some other good feeders, like BSFL (black soldier fly larvae). They have a high calcium content and my beardies really enjoy them.
