Hi guys my boy Ziggy has passed 3 urates now but no poop!! He has been a bit sluggish lately and reluctant to eat apart from his bugs but not as eager as he usually is!! It is winter here so I have been keeping him hydrated with baths and feeding him water with a dropper I have put a little apple puree in once just to encourage him to drink a bit more to see if this picks his energy up. I am concerned he is impacted is this a possibility if he is still passing urate...any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. He's coming up for 10 so that worries me as well as he's no spring Chicken.
Taking him to a vet isn't a problem but don't want to bother him too much if he's just brumanating
Thank you,
Dawn.

Ok the off yellow light is not good for digestion --- please get a bright white basking bulb that keeps temps 95-110 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer -- basking temps and UVB are crucial to the digestion and absorption of calcium -- they are the two most important thing in the tank --- this is a good cause of no poop and the little urate hes passing --- get this fixed ASAP please -- what are you using for a UVB ? Brand and bulb please and where in the tank is it ? top of screen or inside the tank--- these things I am telling you and asking are crucial to your dragon

Hi there...I have a habitat thermostat that regulates the Tempreture of the basking spot and its late in the day which is why its slightly dimmed temp of basking spot is currently 43.3 if the temp is lower than that the bulb emits white light i have a 42" acardia dessert 10% uvb lamp which i replaced a couple of weeks ago and replace every 9 months it is placed at the top of the tank with no screen I've attached a pic...what are your thoughts??

Is there a reflector on the fixture? The 10% is a T 8 I am thinking- what is his diet and is he eating? You want a bright white bulb--- the off color is not really helping the digestion- you want to mimic the sun the temps are there but you really want white-- and it looks like distance is good about 6-8" for the UVB--- does he normally sit like that off to the side to the basking bulb If so he needs to sit under it--- I would look at replacing that basking bulb and raising it--- the temp your getting is directly under the bulb ? To me it looks too close -- you don't want it closer than 6"

No no reflector. I feed him salad everyday which he won't eat anymore..spring greens, butternut squash, apple, blueberry, strawberry, raspberries, grapes, melon, pineapple, cabbage red and green carots, sweet potato, butternut squash, basil, coriander, courgette, parsnip and peppers are the things I use i give 5 of these in each salad. I give insects every other day alternating locusts, roaches, Mario worms and I have started using waxworms and calci wirms on salad to try and encourage him to eat it. The bulb is white when the temp hasn't reached what I have set the thermostat too..can you recommend a basking bulb?? Should I take habitat thermostat out so it doesn't dim? I just measured the distance from basking stone to the lamp it's roughly 6 inches these are the uv lamps use in pic..he is a bit lethargic at the moment so yeah he does sit under lamp like that

Ok so he's got a good diet going I am goin to post a nutrition website some of those things should really be limited or not fed at all- please look for a bright white basking bulb I know Arcadia sells basking bulbs Google Arcadia basking bulb--- you also want a reflector on that fixture-- at this point the UVB Ray's are going all over that tank-- you want the rays of the UVB directed downward toward him-- I will also post a website for them as well-- he needs to be able to sit directly under the basking bulb and the UVB- him sitting off to the side tells me he's not liking the temp or the yellowish color is bothering his eyes- or both-

Once you get these things fixed he should start eating again and basking under the basking light --- please let me know how its going--- its it cold over there now are you in winter ?
Thank you..i placed an order with swell reptiles today for his live food so thats a shame but can place another order no problem.. yes very cold..but i keep the room heated with a WiFi thermostat in the winter so the tank doesn't drop below 18° at night...I've done this as I've read thats OK.. please let me know if its not..also I dust insects with calci dust and salad with calcium..I give them water daily by dropping on their nose...I have 2 beardies probably should have mentioned that..the other one is completely fine..also bathe them at least once week but for twice.. I put calcium in their water as well

I am not a vet -- are you housing two dragons together? If you are please separate them asap-- this is more than likely the reason one is not so so well-- dragons are territorial and one will become dominant over basking and UVB areas food etc---it is trial and error w/ bulbs--- what size is the tank? If it's a 75 gallon you can start w/ a 100 watt but make sure you have a digital probe thermometer to actual basking temps--- but please separate your dragoni am not real savvy on thermostats etc hooman can help you on that

Of course I'm not housing 2 bearded dragons together!! And also why do you think my bearded dragons have been in perfect health for 9 years in the set up that they are in but I have only noticed a change in 1 of them over the past few weeks??
