Depending on the screen it has 2 options - is the screen a fine mesh like a screen door or a wide hole type--- fine mesh it needs to go inside the tank directly above basking decor 12-15 inches--- a wide hole type it can sit on top w/ basking decor 8-10 inches directly below -- did you get the 10.0 T 5 bulb as well - the hood should of come w/ a 5.0 bulb - it can be used but it must go inside the tank - its more equivalent to a T 8 which is more for aquariums -- distance of 6-8 inches directly above basking decor --- your screen will block out 30% of the rays --- also the 5.0 needs to changed out in 6 months the 10.0 T 5 approx one year
I got the 10.0 T5 bulb. My tank has the fine mesh screen. I placed the hood on top of the screen next to the heating lamp so I'll see how he does with this set up.

Thanks again for all the helpful advice!

Yes, how would you hang the hood inside -- and would I punch a hole in the screen for the power cord to come out?

You should be able to lift the screen for the cord to come thru- you can hang the fixture w/ these 3 M Velcro command fasteners--long plastic zip ties- picture wire hangers- fishing line potted plant wire hangers-TAK TY cable and hook ties look for those at Walmart they look like Velcro straps

I ordered a 24" T5 UVB hood and bulb. According to Amazon they will get it here tomorrow. Later today when it's warmer I'll take him outside to get some sunlight. Thanks for the great advice!
Which bulb did you go with, the Reptisun or Arcadia

I went with Reptisun.
Did you get it placed in the tank w/ proper distance? If you need help please ask - distance and placement is key here for proper rays -- and it will need to be changed out in about a year I recommend a month before

I placed it on top of the mesh screen top but considering cutting a long hole in the screen to allow the rays to come thru unimpeded.

If it's fine screen it does need to be unobstructed and 12-15 inches directly above the basking decor--
