Hello I have had my bearded dragon for around 3 months now, He is roughly 6-7 months. I posted here about my weight concerns and that he was only 77 grams which I thought was too low, However the past couple of months he has gained what I would call acceptable weight and now he is 250g which I am happy with. Recently due to supply chain issues I have been giving him crickets most of the time and not a lot of dubia roaches, He was eating around 40-60 crickets a day and some salad to get some form of water source but over the past few days I have noticed he has slowed down and will only eat around 20-25 crickets per day. He shows no signs of stress or discomfort and poops as normal, One thing I have always wanted to ask is POOP SMELL?? From the very start of ownership his stool has had a very fishy scent that before I was not concerned about but could this mean something ?, I do not think he is sick as shows no black beard and will happily eat mario worms all day if I would let him (I DONT).

His enclosure is kept at 35-40 degrees which is monitored by a digital temperature probe.
He has a 100w basking bulb and UVB light with reflector attached.
Enclosure is large for a adult sized dragon.

UVB light with reflector attached. what is the brand and bulb please and where is the UVB inside the tank or top of screen? 35-40 degrees F or Celsius?????? --- he may be slowing down for winter if its winter where you are that is normal - being he is still under a year he should not brumate - the poop smell its possible he has parasites crickets tend to cause parasites but not always - you may have gotten him w/ them already there and they have hatched - so w/ that being said you can take a fecal into the vet drop it off for a test NO ENEMAS -- are you in the states or UK?

If you can post pictures, that’d help us the most, please listen to sadie, she gives good advice, i definitely agree with the slowdown down because of winter, my dragons 2 but for the past 2 years she has slowed down on her bug intake, they will do this as they age, if ur dragon goes 3 full days no food, then id be concerned, but even sometimes that could be normal… let us know if u have any other questions or concerns :)

Hi thanks for the reply i am in the uk, His uvb is placed inside tank and temp at around 40degrees Celsius. I will get him a fecal test done asap i have supplied a couple of pictures he himself does not seem to have any change in behaviour or anything, He has ate around 25 crickets today and a 1 inch dubia with some salad. I do not have a picture of his poop but it is the same as the picture in the attachments. Please note the basking bulb looks very warm in the picture but it is actually very white and the bulb make is exo terra.

Maybe i am just being a worried bearded dragon owner

Poop looks great! He looks healthy, enclosure is pretty good, he is shedding, so his behavior will be off,…My only critique is the heat bulb,…… it’s awfully close for n my opinion for a 100watt……..5-7 inches it looks like….. if its a 50-75watt bulb it MAY be okay….. i see no PROBE thermometers, only stick ons, stick ons are bad, they only measure ambient air temperature, get one of the ones i posted , ive attached some other things aswell, if u have any questions please do ask. Its good ur worried, it shows you want him to have the best care possible :) just dont worry too much.

Also, i might be speaking out of my rump,…… but…… i can tell its too hot jus by his coloring,…. Hes very pale so as to not absorb too much sun, ur dragon looks how mine does after a full day of natural sunlight… one picture is my dragon after she woke up, and the other is her after a full day of sun (notice her “blue bars”?) , its just an observation, idk how accurate compared to ur situation, thought id bring it ip though…..

The UVB is in a fixture w/ a reflector correct? Inside the tank on the back wall or directly above him? There is a difference for the effectiveness of the UVB rays that is why I am asking--- good poop :) your dragon is going to shed ---------- I agree w/ Skybug those stones are probably getting too hot please take the probe and place it on the spot where hes sitting wait 10 min or so get the temp-- w/ the 40 degree temp he may not like it that hot I would look for a piece of decor that offers a gradient heat --- something that he can move around on and either sit stand against lay on etc ---------- it will give different heat temps --
what is the distance for you UVB --- I can see it but cant tell if there is a reflector on the fixture
