we have a small possibly 7 week old baby beardie we got him at petsmart so idk true age, i just know hes a baby and small

but hes not eating and sleeping all day long, cant really get him to wake up long enough for him to even get interested in food i mean i got him to eat at least 4 crickets within today and yesterday but thats all

hes not showing signs of brumation, as hes not hiding or spending more timein the colder section of his tank

hes also not showing any signs of any illness besides low appitite

could he be going into a spurt of growth? or shed?

Go over the lighting in the tank and basking temps--- NO stick ons for temp gauges --- digital probe thermometer -- NO coils for UVB-------------- hes going to go thru relocation stress that is normal -- but you want those temps and UVB up to par ---- babies DO NOT brumate!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those two bulbs I just mentioned are the MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE TANK --- cannot stress that enough ---- the basking bulb controls digestion and the UVB controls the over all health of the dragon!! Shed will slow the eating down or it can but more than likely its relocation stress but the lighting in the tank has got to be spot on

What bulb for UVB? Is it a T 5 or a T 8 and where in the tank is it? Top of screen or inside the tank ? This plays a big role in UVB rays I would bump your basking spot up to 105-110 for a baby ---

https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/en...d-desert-uvb-and-heat-lighting-kit-14932.html this is the bulbs im using its sitting on the top of his tank wich has a metal mesh like top
Please get rid of the coil UVB they are no good and inadequate for any tank ---- you need to get this ASAP----
https://www.petmountain.com/product/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-high-output-terrarium-hood?variant=40651 24" for a 40+ gallon tank
https://www.petmountain.com/product/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-100-uvb-high-output-bulbs?variant=40630 22" bulb
If its warm where you are 65+ degrees get him outside in a plastic tote NO glass for 15 minutes in direct sunlight / partial shade DO NOT leave him alone ---- do this several times per day --- he needs the UVB ---- keep feeding him let me know if he is eating something even a little is better than none --- but you must get a UVB

Its actually not a coil type bulb. And the long ones won't fit the tank I have rn since its a 10gal or so starter tank. I won't have a larger tank til spring. Unless I can convince the person I'm getting it from to give it to me sooner.

And unfortunately here in TN its to cold and rainy so I can't use the window

He will not last till spring in that 10 gallon tank --- by the time hes 5 months old thats pushing it - how big is the tank your getting? You need to get a long tube fixture NOW - it does not need to go inside the 10 gallon you can set it on top width wise a 24" fixture and use the 5.0 bulb that comes w/ the fixture NOW --- please post a pic of the UVB you have now

He got worse tonight. And started showing clearer signs of the stargazing disease. Thank you for trying to help. But how hes looking right now he most likely won't make it through tonight.

You can have him tested for adeno virus --- I am so sorry --- that is a horrible disease ---- please if he does not make it do not go back to the same place to get another one --- and I would call the place you got him from and let them know --- also 10 gallon tanks are not the way to start a dragon in --- a 40 gallon is fine but you would need to upgrade the tank to a 75-120 gallon --- if you have any more questions please ask --

Yes, the bulb you have for UVB IS of the type we refer to as "coil bulb." The UVB they provide is negligible , and, mounted vertically, as shown in the picture, causes burns to the eyes. If you insist on using that bulb, mount it horizontally. . . but as has been said before, it's not a good UVB light. You can buy short length tube type fluorescent bulbs. I have one that is only about 10" long.

Sorry about your beardie's health issues. Hopefully he'll pull through.
You may be able to get a refund from that Petsmart, if you got him less than 2 weeks ago. More than 2 weeks and it will be harder to get an exchange/refund.
Please avoid buying from that pet store again, ADV is contagious and his siblings likely have similar problems.
If you are going to get another beardie after he passes, look for an exotic specialist pet store or breeder in your area. You can also go to a reptile show when they reopen. Avoid that particular store to prevent a repeat of this situation.

Petco is currently having a huge sale on their fish tanks, you can get a 55 gallon for $70 right now. The UVB tubes are also upwards of $10 off. It may be better to upgrade now instead of waiting for spring.
