Here he is doing it.. IMAG1027.jpg IMAG1028.jpg
I live across the street from petsmart, I'm tempted to just replace the bulb now. I have no patience! I worry too much, just want him to be happy & healthy. Hey Germ, just curious.. how did you become the beardie whisperer?

Beardie Whisperer yet,
laughing-so-hard-ag1.gif

I got my first BD in 2002, which is still alive & healthy by the way & keeping my niece at this time. Asked lots of questions from good old time reputable breeders & other truly knowledgeable people, tons of research from trustworthy sources, years of hands on experience & learned from mine & many others' mistakes over the years. Have gotten more & more passionate about these guys as the time has gone on. As new issues arose I needed to find documented sources to be satisfied with my answers.

Unsure if that answers you question, but that's all I got ;).

If he is not doing that the majority of the time & often sits there with both eyes open, clear & alert, I don't think you have anything to worry about. But you are there, I am not, you have to make the call, it is very difficult to make an assessment from a photo in this case. You could just try and shut the UVB off, as I mentioned earlier, a few days without it will not harm your BD. If it still reacts this way under just the heat bulb, then it is not the UVB bulb & is just that he likes winking at you because he thinks your 'Hottttt', :p

Hahaha! Idk what to say to that other than, I should probably take away his pink blanky & line his glass with pictures of female dragons! Lol.. I went downstairs to get his feeder tub, its the sterilite bin I put his critters in to deliver room service to his majesty sir Iggy over here, anyway he was on his rocks on the cool side of the tank & he saw his food I guess because he doesn't get this excited when he just sees me.. well he jumped from the rocks to his branch & ran straight to his hammock in the front of the tank & this is how he looked..WINKING AT ME.jpg
He was so excited! This is the first time I've seen this much enthusiasm out of him! This is awesome, were going on our 3rd week together & the last few days I've witnessed him become more comfortable, & what I believe is his little personality starting to come out.
Anyway, when he ran up & smiled both eyes were wide & bright, I whipped out my phone to hurry & take a pic because he looked so happy & when I snapped the pic, he did it. You can see his right eye closed. His back is turned to the UVB. There was a flash on the camera. However, I continued to watch him & he just does it. Here & there. Both eyes. I'm worried now.

That is too funny. Such personality your little dragon is going to have and he is so darn cute! Don't know what to say about that eye. Listen to what Germ says....he knows best.

Thank you!
I'm still holding on to hope that maybe it is one of his lil quirks.. I took 1 pic before the one I uploaded & the flash didn't go off, it was dark so I took another where his eye was closed.. this is the first picHAPPY IGGY.jpg
I called a well known reputable reptile shop by me & they recommended a good herp vet. Id rather not hope. Taking him my next day off.

I just got my dragon on monday night and I'm going to just leave him be songs can de-stress like I was told I should by some of you guys. But he is shedding so in about 10 days or so(or when he starts to eat normally) should I give him a bath?

Very good idea to leave him alone for a while. New home, shedding, eye issues....maybe he just needs some time to get his act together.

If he is shedding, you should give him a warm soak now, to help loosen the shed, that is part of the maintenance ;) .

His tail is almost ready to and it's peeling off his face and ear holes and I know you should NEVER put water deep enough for his head to go under. But if you say soak now then i guess I will. I trust yalls judgment calls

It is said to check the temp like you would a Baby's Bottle, warm to the inside of the wrist. Body temp is 98.6F, so 105F should do, I have always bathed mine at Basking Temp, 105-110F.

They will shed as often as they need to, depends when they grow out of the old skin & need a change of clothes ;), so it varies between dragons & between sheds.
