Bad Bulb?

Ok so I got my Reptisun 10 bulb and Reptisun hood and when I plug it in and turn it on the only thing I get is a humming from the hood. Has anyone had the same problem? was it the bulb or hood?

It could be the mount mate or the starter plug, try "jigging" it a bit and make sure the tube is on securely (turn it off first obviously).

Can't say that I've ever had that happen. I used to have trouble with the basking lights. But that is not what you are asking.

As with anything you buy nowadays, it could be a lemon. Where did you buy it from? I would try exchanging the hood.

Oh, or try taking the bulb out and back in. Maybe it didn't sit properly....

Called Zoo Med they cant trouble shoot which it is however, I'm going to pick up a new hood from Petsmart tomorrow. I have to call Zoo Med back and let them know if that works if so they will send me a new hood, if its the bulb they said they will replace the bulb.

Sounds like a plan. Gotta troubleshoot before you know which is malfunctioning.

Well found out today its the bulb, Zoo Med is going to send me a replacement bulb, In the mean time I'm gonna use a Repti Glo 10 until the replacement bulb arrives.

Glad zoo med was on top of it and sending out a new bulb. Hopefully it will arrive soon. The ReptiGlo 10.0 has been linked to eye troubles with bearded dragons.

I noticed that but it seems like people are syaing they never had a problem and some say they have. The new bulb should ship tommorow (I hope). I dont plan on using the bulb for any longer then I have to.

I have to say Zoo Med is a class act, received my replacement bulb today I was shocked to get it today with yesterday being christmas.
