Hi, I got my first Viv recently and plan to get it set up before I get my first bearded dragon. I'll apologise in advance for any questions that sound daft, bare with me please.

I'm looking at the arcadia t5 desert lamp 12%,
I've already got a 100w heat bulb and heat mat

Would that be too much for a baby

Am I running both the lamp and heat bulb ?

You dont need the heat mat dragons heat w/ their backs not stomachs- you need two digital probe thermometers to get surface basking temps- 105-110 ambient in the tank around 100 on the hot side cool side 80ish--- the Arcadia 12% 24 watt is a great UVB - depending on the screen on the tank will determine where the UVB needs to be placed and distanced - ambient temps at night should be 65-75 - everything I am mentioning here is crucial to the overall health of the dragon --- when you get him he will have stress marks let him adjust to his tank and surroundings - his eating is going to be slow and off till he adjust you want him eating something if he quits eating all together some thing is off - his temps and UVB are going to help him adjust quicker - please no handling outside the tank for now - hand feed him to get him hand tamed - you can use BSFL www.symtonbsf.com keep them in the dirt they come in - you can use them as salad lures to get him to the bowl - https://www.amazon.com/MACGOAL-Rept...uGQB&pd_rd_wg=tLkwE&ref_=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_d
they are a great staple feeder - I would use them as a second protein around 20-25 drop on his salads in front of him and use those to hand feed -- a good staple feeder are dubia roaches crickets silk worms - small super worms can be used as treats and another lure to the bowl add to the salads as well 1-3 every other day - you want him eating some salads but his main diet is protein please dust the staple insect w/ calcium D3 and a multivitamin w/ beta carotene as well - calcium D3 should be fed 5 x per week ONCE per feeding lightly coated on the insect and the multivitamin 2 x per week ONCE per feeding - you dont need to dust the BSFL but the main insect dust please - http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html ignore the kale info its outdated
