Adult Beardie Diet

So now that I have an adult beardie, I need to know about feeding him the proteins.... Is he supposed to be eating every day or every other day? And do I offer all that he can eat? As for salad, I do know that he needs that every day. ;)

I did talk to a reptile specialist though. I brought my big Charlie in for him to check him out, and it seems so that Charlie was malnourished and a little thin. That guy suggested I start him off slow with the proteins (I feed him superworms), then increase the portion.

Adult beardies get their protein 3-4 times a week. Every other day is fine. Their appetite slows down and they will continue to eat their fill in a 10-15 minute interval.

As you said, salad is offered daily.

Thank you! Now as for his size... as I mentioned, he is thin. Is it appropriate to feed him proteins every day till he's back up to health? Or what are some suggestions?

Hmm...how underweight is he? If not much, I would continue the every other day and add a couple wax worms as a treat once or twice a week. They are like candy to beardies and are high in fat, so weight gain would be inevitable.

I'm not really sure how underweight he is... but when I pick him up, it feels like he barely has a belly on him. I can kinda feel some bones. Not sure if that helps.. He doesn't seem to be really skinny, like, the space between his back and his belly, he's kinda skinny. But from a birds eye view, from side to side of his back, he looks nice and round like normal.

I will definately consider waxworms, though.
