Our Petco just started carrying them about 2 months ago. They are by the cricket "to go packs".

In my case, Fenchurch loves roaches. She didn't seem more than ambivalent toward crickets. She'd eat them, eventually, but not with the enthusiasm that she does roaches and superworms.

That doesn't seem like a bad deal. I just don't know what size he would be good with

Wow I should consider myself lucky the shop near me sells them at .25/roach and .09/super if you buy 60+ and tyler, an adult should be able to eat a large roach if he's the correct size.
All my mealies are from p-co though, cheap, and regardless of where I get them they get gutloaded by me first.

You might also check out craigslist. I get 400 f mixed sizes for $75. I don't exactly breed them but I have the set up for it. Two beardies and two geckos can munch down on them. I also feed super worms. Can't get those off craigslist though

Always good to have as much variety as possible with their foods. So definitely see if you can get dubia, supers, earthworms, hornworms, etc, the more the better. You can leave the crickets in there without any issue as long as the greens/veggies are always in there too. Crickets will only go after your dragon as a very last resort. I have hundreds living and breeding in my enclosure and have never had any bites. They are pretty noisy though. ;)

Having said that, for a 2 year old dragon you can easily just feed live food twice a week. If you feed them live food everyday youre unlikely to find they eat much of the greens/veggies. Live food is higher in fat, of course, so higher in calories. Dragons are all about conserving energy, so if they get an easy source of higher fat live food everyday, they are unlikely to bother with other foods. However, its important for nutrition and hydration that they eat their greens/veggies too.

Id recommend just feeding the fresh greens/veggies in the morning and then alternating between feeding live food in the morning or at night. I think keeping their feeding times different keeps them a little more active, though I might just be kidding myself. ;)

Sounds like you nailed it haha thanks for the advice. I'm probably going to start a dubia roach colony and feed insects every other day. I always keep fresh greens in there!

How many roaches should I give in a singe feeding?
I've read only a dozen or so superworms per feeding. Don't know if that's true

Its a bit of trial and error really. Dragons are different sizes and activity levels, so that will determine a lot about how you feed them. Also, it depends on what size roaches you get. If you get the nice big adults, then I normally feed around 5-10, if its the smaller nymphs then it would be more.
