Hi, I'm new here. My daughter has a Juvenile (6 months) Beardie named Churro. He was given to her in a 10 gallon tank. We have a 20 gallon tank that we're not using and I wanted to know what size hood and Uvb light should we get. Also, should it go on top or inside the tank? It's 30" L x 15" H x 12" W.

Please get him in the 20 gallon the 10 gallon is way to.small- he's going to need a 75-120 gallon now - but he should not be in a 10 gallon- I can post links for good uvb's- I would recommend a zoo med 24" that fixture will come w/ a 5.0 bulb that you can use on the 20 gallon but it must be unobstructed and 6-8 inches directly above the basking decor - if your going to upgrade to the 75 - 120 your gonna need a 10.0 T 5 bulb-- that fixture will.take that bulb-- please let me know

Thank you. Yes definitely getting a bigger tank, but I needed something now. So the tank has a mesh top, should i put it on that or attach it inside the tank?

For a T 8 or the 5.0 bulb it will need to be unobstructed and basking decor 6-8 inches directly under it I am post a pic of my 20 gallon I had set up for Blaze - I had the T 8 going across the center of the tank and the basking bulb on the end clamped - the far other end was a ceramic heat emitter I used for like a day or two after I got him --

Yes please, I would like Links to tanks. Also, I know you said I need the UVB to be unobstructed. Does that mean it needs to go in the tank. Because my tank is not all mesh at the top. I posted a picture, this is not my tank, but it's the exact one I have.

Ok so hes good for a little while in that tank but he will grow fast in the first year-- please get the UVB I dont see one and the T 8 will need to be unobstructed as posted above- he doesnt look 6 months he looks like hes about 4-5 months old -- I dont see any temp gauges please get two digital probe thermometers -- Zoo Med makes them found at Pet Smart or Petco - place one of the probes on the spot where he basks for 10 min or so get the surface basking temp 105-110 see if he will basks at those temps --- when he hits 6 months old that temp may change the older they get they do not like real hot temps - then your looking for 95-100 -- cool side the tank should be around lower 80's -- your dragon will quit eating if any of this stuff is off -- especially UVB he needs that to absorb/ synthesize the calcium D3 hes getting -- you are dusting the insects correct?
