23 degrees Celsius is that on the hot side of the tank? Heat emitters are for night time heat not for basking light- you can add a CHE but you must use a solid clear bright white bulb for basking - it provides UVA CHE's do not --- other light? which light are you talking about? UVB's are not supposed to be real bright they provide UVB rays and do not emit much heat at all -- you want surface basking temps 95-100 F --

IF you now have the long tube uvb in place as Sadie suggested, you should change out your heat bulb from MVB to regular white basking bulb (Flukers or zoo med repti basking bulb). If youre not getting the heat you need, you can also increase the wattage of your basking bulb..for example, I run a 150watt repti basking bulb in a 4 x 2 x2 tank, over the screen in a deep dome. Youll really have to play with the wattage of your basking bulb, or as Sadie suggested, add a CHE. But dont replace the basking bulb with a CHE. Your uvb is not to add heat (it doesnt), just to add uvb. A mercury vapor bulb AND a long tube uvb will give too much uvb if used together. And get rid of any other uvb bulbs too...just run a bright white basking bulb for heat and uva, and the long tube for uvb, and if needed, add the che for more heat. Use a digital probe thermometer to measure your temps on your basking spot, as Sadie suggested.

Thank you all for your help
I have replaced bulbs as suggested
She seems to be doing better only time will tell when or if she has more eggs in the next few weeks.
Also curious though if giving her to much protein can make her reproduce quicker?
Lastly I received her when she was two years old and with all the research I have done and help from you guys I noticed that her nails are to long and the quick has grown with the length of the nail is there any way to deal with this?

I got one response from another person who has raised females and egg laying dragons
I would add that yes, too much protein and calcium can cause excess egg laying. If they reduce the insect feedings and try to get her to to drop about 50 grams it might help but once they are this size it's very hard for them to lose weight. It's not really about the lighting but it mostly happens with overweight females. And some dragons for reasons unknown are just chronic large volume layers. It would still be worth trying to help her lose weight .

Hello,

How is your girl doing today, is she feeling better?
Getting her weight under control would help decrease the
egg laying behavior to some extent. Has she been pretty
active lately?
