When did he last shed? Does it look like that area needs to shed? It may just be his mature coloration. Mine's tail goes a little darker toward the tip and intensified as he matured so it could just be his natural coloration but it is a bit drastic.
Update on this issue: This was indeed a sperm plug and not a prolapse. Today in the bath 2 plugs were released when he pooped. If anyone is interested in what they look like feel free to respond and I can post a pic (but they are gross). I am very relieved that they are gone and I think Kratos...
I gave Kratos a bath about 4 days ago and afterward there was a whitish-yellow thing about 1/4" long sticking out so I put him back in the bath and he sucked it back up his vent. Same thing happened today after he pooped (he likes to poop in the bath) only he won't retract it this time. The...
I think they are all pretty bearded. I've only ever really had males and they've been plenty sweet. Almost every reptile I had ended up being male and I've never had an aggressive one of any kind. Some behaviors might be more noticeable like head bobbing with the males and arm waving with the...
My guys looked very similar when he was young...turned out he had pin worms and coccidia (which is not good). Take a stool sample to the vet ASAP and check your temps! Give him a warm soak to help him stay hydrated as well.
I would recommend checking his basking temps...it could be that they are too low or high? The weird breathing noise could be due to an upper respiratory infection so increasing his temps a bit may help. Also, are your lights on a timer? Sometimes the eating can get off track if the lights aren't...
It may be that he just isn't used to having his face wet and wanted it to be dry. My gecko will wipe any residual baby food after feeding off his face on the nearest surface. Also, if his lips or eyes shed at a different time than his face it can be difficult to notice and that may be the...
My big guy has definitely developed some strange habits over time and I was wondering if anyone else's dragons had done the same? He's currently 13 months old and around 460 grams. The first habit he developed around 6 months old was wiping his bottom after going to the bathroom, literally he...
Gorgeous dragon! Does he get grumpy with you often? Mine has never bearded at me or made any threatening gesture. He looks more cute than scary in that pic.
If your guy's a jumper a leash will probably just injure him. The best thing to do is show him what is outside by holding him in your hands securely and let him sniff around so his curiosity doesn't set him off. I'd recommend waiting till he gets older and calmer if you are worried he will jump...
The width will probably be too narrow. I'd recommend at least 18" for the width. Your dragon will thank you for the extra space. A 40 gallon breeder tank is usually a good size for an adult beardie.
Jela's Badass Beardies (check them out on FB) has gorgeous dragons! They have weekly auctions as well as regular shipping and sell juveniles and adults (various morphs and colors). I'd love to have one from them but my Kratos keeps me busy enough.
So I noticed Kratos' right side start to spasm and contract about 3 weeks ago and immediately took him to the vet. They took x-rays and did blood work and said everything was OK and that it was most likely just gas and not to worry. He keeps spasming on just the right side every few days and...
My dragon loves to come out for play time and pets but does not like being pet in his enclosure (his territory). Try bribing him with some treats/hand feeding and after a few days take him out of his enclosure. When he realizes he is in your space he should calm down.
Continue offering the greens daily. A lot of young dragons won't eat them but I'm sure he will try them eventually. I don't think there is a need for baby food. If you want to pluck a hind leg off a cricket and put it in his dish with the greens he may get some greens with the cricket (this is...
A little scratch like that should heal just fine. It's not an open wound so I'd let it be to heal on its own. Someone more experienced may jump on and have a better perspective on how to treat it though.
It's probably just a scratch then. I'd keep a close eye on him to make sure he doesn't injure it worse. Hopefully it doesn't scar. Kratos had a small scratch on his hind leg when I got him but it healed after the next shed. He does have a small spot on his back that is a scar though that won't...
