Hi Stubbs! Glad you’re doing much better!

    Is our diet alright?

I don’t know if I can answer specifically your questions but this is what I’ve learned as a new owner myself: “Generally when bearded dragons are very young, they eat 80% bugs and 20% plants.” As far as the number of insects I’m having a hard time trying to figure that out. Some people have...

Wanting a bearded dragon... But have some questions first.

20gal is min size for a juvenile beardie 40gal min size for adult. But if yours is larger than average you may need something bigger. 100gal seems unnecessary. A lot of owners like to bump it up to 55 or 70 to give them plenty of space. I’m no expert but I’m pretty sure that you can’t get...

Caring for Rosie the college bearded dragon

I’m a new owner but I’ll answer what I can. It can be bathed 1-2x a week. Basking temp should be around 90-105 degrees for an adult. I believe the whitish skin is shed but could be something else post a pic and maybe someone can identify it.

Very new... Did I get the wrong enclosure?

I haven’t heard anything about before eating. But it could be that they need to warm up to be active enough to eat? Not sure on this one.

This is a male dragon right?

It looks like two bumps to me so that should be a male. But I’m not even close to being experienced enough to tell. Probably doesn’t help but that’s my 2¢

Very new... Did I get the wrong enclosure?

Oh one more thing I thought of. They need at least 2 hours to bask after eating because the heat and uv aid in their digestion. So don’t feed it and the turn the lights off too soon.

Very new... Did I get the wrong enclosure?

I’m still learning about lighting but I’ll tell you what I’ve read. 12-14 hrs is correct but maybe less during winter months. I’m not too sure. So after the 12-14-hrs turn off both lights. The temp must never drop below 65 degrees so if it gets colder than that you’ll have to find a way to warm...

Very new... Did I get the wrong enclosure?

I can’t comment on the lights. But I’ll tell you what I think I know about cages, I’m still new to this. It was a good call to not go with sand. If they eat sand accidentally it could cause impaction. Most people recommend against carpet because it may cause damage to their nails. My dragon has...

How long does it take to tame a beardie?

I’m not sure tame is the right word but how long does it generally take be for a beardie to just chill on your chest or shoulder without trying to run away? I’ve had Beirdo for three weeks and he is a juvenile. I pick him up and hold him for a few minutes at least every other day. He used to...

How can I be sure Beirdo is getting enough to eat?

Ok so I’m curious about the number of insects my dragon eats daily. So I’ve read that he should be allowed to eat as many as he can in a 15min period three times a day. Many owners say theirs eat 100s of crickets a day. Based on that information I started giving around 15-20 crickets at a time...
