How come every time I order 250 crickets off of amazon, half of them are dead? I've only done it twice, and a good portion of them are dead when I open the box. I just dump them all in the cricket tank, (10 gallon) and I can see them all dead down there. Now granted, many of them are alive. But...
Yes the sand would need changed periodically, but the little poops would be easy to pick up with a little sifter spatula scoop thing. Thus, the sand would last a lot longer than my green carpet stuff, before it started to smell bad. Right? Makes sense to me. Because you really can't get it off...
So in other words, yes. The smell will always be there. I'm starting to see why people just use calcium sand for the adults as substrate. Just feel them outside the cage, or somewhere that is off the sand. That way they don't eat any of it. The sand would make it very easy to clean up after them.
My beardie is only about 10 inches long, but man doe he create a smell. I clean out his cage about once every 10 days, and by that point it smells horrible in the room he stays in. Is there some way to counteract this odor? Its definitely NOT the crickets. They're somewhere else. Its him.
I...
Yes I got the Flukers orange Gel. Gut load I guess. I see them eating it, but I wanted make sure ALL the crickets would be able to find it. Hopefully its got a little scent in there for them or something.
I got some of that orange cricket gut load food. The gel stuff. Bought a big 7.5lb tub of the stuff. And, my 250 crickets came in today. So my question is this. Will ALL the crickets find their way to the little dish of food?
Do crickets smell and seek out that food? Or are they simply too...
Well it was helpful, so thanks for the reply. That gives me some hope at least. I'll try putting a divider in the tank. He seldom uses the other half of the tank anyway, so its not like he'll miss it.
He never lets me get that far. He will just run to each corner of the tank. I end up having to pick him up by his back if I ever want to catch him. He's in a 40 gallon tank.
Hi all. I had a thread on this a while back, but its been a while and my beardie has grown a few inches since then. He is probably about 9 inches long now, and I got him when he was about 4 inches. I must admit that I do not handle him every day, sometimes I will go up to 4 days without touching...
