Had to take him to the vet Tuesday, he has respiratory infection and parasites. Had him checked the beginning of Nov. when I got him and it was neg. But he started passing some blood in his stool and stopped eating, of course he cant afford to lose any weight so I called vet right away. The only thing she can figure they were attached when she first checked him, and with all the feedings they released and became active, (Does that sound possible) His breathing was also strange to me, not like my other 2 beardies. I have to give him antibiotic shot every 3 days in those TINY front legs, That is going to be challanging. Wish me luck. He did eat 11 tiny mealworms yesterday. Please keep him in your thoughts, those eyes just melt my heart, will keep you posted

I'm sorry to hear this news.
Just as a thought, avoid the meal worms with dragons...
Hope this helps.

Thats's not good. What did they give you for medications. I agree, no mealies.

Liquid panacur for the parasites, and gentocin for the infection. Mealworms are the only thing I can get him to eat right now.
Why no mealies?

The Chitin that is the shell is really hard for dragons to digest. Not to mention that there is little protein and a WHOOOOOLE lotta of fat.

Try superworms instead...Just toss some in a baggie, then add the calcium... and shake.. Just pluck out the supers a couple at a time until all are gone, and feed to Willie.

Hope this helps !

Gentocin...is that a topical that you are using and if so, for what. You said he had a respitory infection. Just curious.

The gentocin is in injection form and was told it is for the infection. Just gave him his first one, he is such a little trooper. The vet gave him one on Tuesday and showed me how to do it, thank goodness. He is acting more perky than he has the last couple days.

Actually once you said that I remember you mentioning that up in the thread...sorry. So that is an antibiotic. I would highly recommend getting some bennebac. It is a product that helps the body adjust to the loss of all bacteria due to the antibiotic. Not only does an antibiotic get rid of bad bacteria is also gets rid of good stuff too. The good bacteria is what helps along digestion. What you might find is that because of the antibiotic he could lose his appetite and or just not feel well. Kind of the same as us when we take an antibiotic. Our stomachs can get upset, lose appetite and even get yeast infections. You can use either bennebac or a soy based acidophilus.
