Aww thanks. I'm not exactly sure how old he is. I got him from a local pet store that my vet recommended when I lost my juvenile recently due to a tumor. He's (or she) is about 6-7" long. In the week I've had him he's gone from white with gray spots to the pretty deep brown colors in the picture. I asked the assistant if he know what kind and how old he was when I picked him up, but he said he only worked there part time and didn't receive them in. As I am going back today to pick up more crickets I'm hoping to talk to the owner who didn't happen to be in the day I got him for more info. There were 2 in the tank at the pet store and all he could tell me were that they were from the same hatch. After watching them for a bit, I chose Dexter as he seemed to be the less timid of the two. If she turns out to be a girl I'll shorten name to Dex or change name slightly to Vector, I think. I don't want it too different.Hi! I'm not sure.... but he's absolutely adorable!! How old?![]()
Aww thanx. He's an entertaining lil guy for sure! Quite active and speedy. lolnot sure but he sure is cute!!!
Those dark vein looking markings on the western beardy's chest and belly are the markings that darkened quite a lot on Dexter. They were barely visible and now they are dark like the sample pic. I'll try to get a pic of his belly markings.Because he's so young it's hard to know for sure, but looking at pics and descriptions this one: The Western Beardy is the closest I can come to his markings. Under the description and facts it says: "Under a naked eye, many bearded dragons look the same. Western Bearded Dragons aren’t an exception in this case. But there are some extremely important differences that especially come into play when these creatures are held in captivity. For example, they are mainly insectivores, which means the diet must consist mostly of insect matter. They love crickets and other tinier invertebrates." Which could be why I'm having such trouble with veges. lol I'm heading to the pet store for crickets and more roaches and hope to confirm his type and age. Below is the image I found of the Western and Dexter's markings.
I wish I could help. You can look stuff up online. My guess is a common beardie. Most others are really expensive and rare. But he is litteraly by far the cutest baby beardie I have seen. No joke. Frickin adorableDex might be too young to tell, but does anyone know what type/kind of beardy he is? I've looked at various pics, but when I think he looks like one another pic of another type will look similar to him. Just curious. Thanks!
Awww thanks. I think he's adorable too, but I'm biased being his mama.I wish I could help. You can look stuff up online. My guess is a common beardie. Most others are really expensive and rare. But he is litteraly by far the cutest baby beardie I have seen. No joke. Frickin adorable
Ohhh, your probably right. Thank you! I searched and found this image of a central. He looks just like a tiny baby version of attached pic, don't you think?Ok he/she looks like a central Bearded dragon
Sweeeet! Thanks for the info. I'll reach out and see if she can help or maybe confirm he's a central. When I found a central pic after Akg2020 posted, I think more than likely he is a central. You should go on Instagram and ask hippydippyherps her name is brandice and she’s a Breeder but she’s an absolute gem and would totally be able to help you out.
Congrats on the cute lil fella. I have a leatherback beardie. He stole my heartAwww thanks. I think he's adorable too, but I'm biased being his mama. Thanks for the tip about type. I'm going to do a little more investigation about leatherbacks and commons. Not that I need to know for any other reason then that I'm curious. Never having purchased a beardy before (Seymore came to me with everything free) I was a little freaked that Dexter (being a teeny tiny thing) cost me $100. In the beardy world that's probably fairly inexpensive. lol Couldn't not get him though. I was already in love.
Good news! I had to go to the pet store early (Dexter's appetite has increased and I miscalculated on my last bug purchase). The owner had spoken to the breeder. He is a central.Your welcome I did a lot of research and I also was around the central bearded dragons more then any other one I have a central bearded dragon and my brother has a fancy bearded dragon
Akg2020: Would love to see a pic of your central. Dex is so tiny right now, it's hard to foresee what he'll look like when he's a little older.Good news! I had to go to the pet store early (Dexter's appetite has increased and I miscalculated on my last bug purchase). The owner had spoken to the breeder. He is a central. He was a few days over 6 weeks old when he came to the pet store and I adopted him the day he came in. I've had him for 8 days today so that makes my little guy/gal (going with guy for now) about (maybe a few days over) 7 weeks old. Just a tad under 2 months. Thanks everybody for the help. It was interesting looking at all the different colors and morphs trying to figure this out.
