So if I see this again I’m taking Puffy to the vet, don’t worry.
he’s had recent blood work so I know it’s not calcium related. After some new feeders and diarrhea about a month ago I thought parasites so I took him in but it turns out he can no longer digest dubias very well and was very constipated. He drinks plenty of water and eats greens so not sure how this happened, vet just said it wasn’t parasites after a fecal test and after an X-ray he said Puffy was just constipated - a few days of lactulose fixed that easily and he’s been fine ever since.
He’s on reptile carpet in a 40gal breeder and roams around my apt for about an hour a day when I’m home - he loves the window and has a little perch - nothing loose in his enclosure, tube UVB on inside which I change every six months and basking bulb - hot side is around 105 degrees and cool side around 80-85 degrees, I check almost daily with a digital temp gun. He always has good sheds - nothing gets stuck. Diet includes fresh greens every other day (he likes his arugula crunchy and a little dried out) and a mixture of super worms and butterworms for staple feeders - he’s lazy and doesn’t like chasing crickets - he gets the occasional hornworm too. Vet says I’m doing everything right. Aside from one incident of parasites and one incident of fecal impaction from dubia roaches, he’s been healthy during his almost 4 years on this planet.
my question is, this morning I noticed him doing this over and over for about ten minutes. His beard turned black (almost never happens) and he seemed to be gasping, maybe just coughing? He’s back to normal now but I’m wondering if I should be worried? He had a normal bowel movement yesterday, peed a little in his bath this morning. Maybe he had some dried arugula stuck in his throat? Have you ever seen this? I cannot post a video, damn.
