So I built the new cage for Phoenix, but I haven't seen him out and about, he's always under the rock on the basking side. But when I leave for work at 7am the lights are on and he's in there and when I get home at 5-6 hes in there so I'm not sure what he does between then? Lights are on at 7 and off at 7.

I want to set up a live feed camera on his cage so I can check from work haha.

His hot side is 105 on the rock and 95 under it. The cool side is 90 up on the green and 85 under the log and 112 up on the high part of the green. The uvb bulb is brand new the 36" t5 5.0 and reptison hood that it came with. It's in the front upper lip angled to the back so he has plenty of different ranges to get to it

Maybe for the past week he has been on and off eating. Some days he eats his salad and bugs and other days he doesn't touch either. He just pooped a decent size poop yesterday with the little white oval thing, it was solid poop but a bit on the mushy side.

If I pull him out of his cage he roams around but when I put him in there he goes to the corner and tries to dig for a bit and then lays there. Not sure if he is sleeping or just laying there haha.

Brumation? What else could it be? And how do I verify

Let's see, When I leave for work in the morning, Dexter is on her ledge. When I come home for lunch she's usually still on her ledge, but she's turned around. When I come home from work, yup, she's on her ledge! Now it changes if she's hungry in the morning. She's going to be 2 next week so she doesn't eat everyday. If she's hungry, I will physically take her off the ledge and put her on the floor of her tank. Once she eats she will walk around for a bit before laying down under her ledge on the warm side of the tank. She's pretty lazy. She was active when I came home for lunch today so I was nice and put her on the floor a bit. She ended up crawling under the shelving unit and tucked in for a nap, I had to fish her out!

Luci is a little different. He wakes, stretches eats his salad, poops, eats his worms and then runs laps around the tank until about 2pm. Then goes back to his ledge and starts to get ready for bed, which by the way is at 8 PM!

Okay so him being lazy isn't a complete worry?! I want him to use his cage and I don't know if he runs around when I'm at work haha

I feel like mine wait for me to provide them entertainment :) Like they are in jail all day and they know when they see me there's a chance I'll bust them out!

I feel like they need little harmonica's to sing the blues all day LOL!

Well 606 pictures over the course of like 10 hours. And

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1414111189.105434.jpg

I don't think he moved

His eyes were open when I checked on him but that's probably because he felt me unlocking and opening the cage door. Right now his eyes are closed.

Brumation? Or something else?

Also I gave him a quick bath and he acted like he was either swimming or digging? I'm not sure if that's a good thing. I dribbled some water on his nose and he did drink some. Im not sure how much maybe he's dehydrated

The skin on his back returns pretty quickly when I squeeze it (I was an emt not sure if that works for lizards like it does people haha) it's actually kind of hard to grab onto any of his skin because it's tight

They don't always enjoy the bath. Some love it, some hate it. They don't know what's good for them, haha. Maybe the water is not warm enough. I keep mine 80° and i keep my guy in there until he poops (because he always poops in his bath) but keep him in there for at least 15 mins with warm water. I have to change mine once but i cover the top of the plastic tub so it doesn't cool as quickly.

He usually poops on the tile in his cage, he just went like 2 days ago so I didn't think he would again haha. I used my bathtub

If he's alert when he's out of the tank and he's eating and pooping, I don't think it's brumation, just a lazy mellow dragon. That's not a bad thing, as right now I have one that has been running the length of his tank and scratching the glass for the last 1/2 hour. It drives me CRAZY!

I also use my bath tub for baths, it's so much easier. Dexter poops I pull the plug, rinse the tub and fill it back up all while she just sits there! She also loves the hand held shower head and will actually sit under it. Luci is terrified of baths.

Ya he's plenty alert and active when he's out. He just doesn't move in his cage

Ruling out parasites is always a good idea.

And now possibly just a high dragon if you read my last post. I will be mad if that sealer is causing it because it was an expensive build and the sealer says low fumes on it and it's been a week

Welp. Put Phoenix back in the old cage while I try and figure out the smell in the new one and how to get it out (advice welcome) but I made an adjustment to the old cage so that now a dome light sits on top because before it was to freakin hot even with a 40w.

The question is what temp does melamine catch fire. All I had in my garage was my drill and a 3" bore I think it's called. So I just drilled a few holes to make it big enough
