Hi all
I need to replace my 2.0 Linear Flourescent UVB (repti glow 2.0 25w 30") bulb and was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative to the repti glow bulb and could you not just use a normal bulb or does it have to be a reptile bulb.
Thanks in advance

I'm not too familiar with the ReptiGlow, but I know that they are frowned upon as they generally have poor UVB output. I use it's cousin- the ReptiSun 10.0, which does have better UVB. No, you can't use a standard, regular bulb as they do not produce UVB, which is very detrimental to your reptile's health! They other notable brands- ZooMed, Zilla, etc also produce their version as well.

Again, I would highly recommend replacing the reptiglo with ReptiSun, as UVB output is so much better. You WILL notice a vast improvement in your pet - appetite, activity, mood, etc

Not sure if you can get it in the UK but Reptisun 10.0 is the best bulb. Arcadia 12% is really good too.

I'm confused

I have 2 bulbs in my viv one is a exo terra repti glow 10.0 uvb (blue) and the other is a exo terra repti glow 2.0 (white) the white one needs replacing. So by reading the comments am I right in thinking that I need a white bulb that's also 10.0 uvb instead of a white bulb that is 2.0 that came with the light unit

You need to get the 10.0 white one ASAP!

The best UVB tube style is the reptisun T5 HO 10.0
T5 bulbs can be replaced every year, the T8 bulbs need to be replaced every 6 months..
T5 will penetrate thru the wire mesh tops..
