When you buy the hood it comes with a light in it but it's not the right light, it's not strong enough. You want to buy a 10.0 HO T5 bulb. Hold on to the 5.0 bulb though incase you need an emergency backup.

welp, there goes the rest of my money.. darn. does the hood work with that bulb?

As long as it's a T5 hood it will fit any T5 bulb whether it's ZooMed or Arcadia or another brand. T5 hoods just don't work with T8 size bulbs.

can you recommend the cheapest brand? cause i dont want to spend $25 currently

There are only two brands that I know of that are good, the ZooMed and the Arcadia. ZooMed is much cheaper than the Arcadia. Check the website light your reptiles. They may have other bulbs.
