Hello all I'm bp new to the site as im a proud owner of an 6 month old bearded dragon boy name Pierre. I brought a all living things 40 gallon tank that came with everything even heat and uvb light. Now I had my Pierre since August 17th. My baby boy is a happy camper after he got settle into his new home. But I been reading Alot about the uvb light. Now the one that came with it is a 13 watt dessert uvb coil light. Now I only had him for lil more then a month no issues what so ever. But I been getting mixed review. I'm hearing that the twist coil uvb lights are not good for the bearded dragon cause they cause eye problem. I have been checking my baby boy and don't see any eye problem and his eyes are bright and active. So I'm trying to see if I should change the bulbs. Some say flouuresent tube light is highly preferred. But I was thinking of another option if I didn't go for the tube light. What do you guys think of this light
ReptiSun 10.0 UVB Mini Compact Fluorescent. I just wanna make sure my baby boy will be Ok thx in advance

I prefer the tube style bulbs because it allows the UVB to cover more area of the tank rather than a small portion that the coil bulbs do. When I first got my dragons I had a Reptisun 10.0 T8 bulb that rested on top of the mesh. The mesh blocks out a lot of the UVB and it's recommended that they get changed every 6 months and that your beardie get 4-6 inches from the light in order to get any benefit from it. About a year ago I switched my lighting to the Reptisun 10.0 T5 fixtures and bulbs. The fixture is reflective allowing the UVB to go deeper into the tank through the mesh top. I noticed a difference right away in my bearded dragons. Dexter had been lethargic and lazy for awhile before the change and as soon as I changed it she perked up and I found her walking around her tank more than before. It also brightened there tanks considerably.

There is also a mercury vapor bulb that I know some people use but I don't really have any experience with it.

When you say the tank came with everything, I hope it didn't come with a red/black/purple light for night. They don't need nighttime heat unless their tanks get below 65degrees. The only thing those lights are good for are for you to see them and night and really, they sleep like the dead at night, there's nothing to see.

Hello there thx you for the response. I been leaning towards the tube bulb. Just wanted people's ideas on it so that I can assure my beardie is healthy. I'll be going to the store to check for fixture. My concern was the whole coil light. But as I see I guess the tube light is where at
