I just want some recommendations for something I can monitor the UVB levels with. It's a brand new light, but I want to be prepared just in case.
I don't want to just pick something and find out later it's not what I need.
Thanks in advance!

UVB detectors are very pricy. I bought one a few years back and the cheapest one I could find was $189 at Light Your Reptiles. I bought one because I have multiple tanks to monitor and I'd rather actually test the bulb and not guess when it needs to be replaced so I could save some money.

Is a UVB detector a necesssity? Or are you safe using the ReptiGlo and replacing it every 6 months?

Its not necessary but for me I have 7 tanks so I'd rather not guess when the bulbs need to be changed. When you change your bulb, try to get a ReptiSun 10.0 or an Arcadia 12%, they are better than the ReptiGlo bulbs.

So would you say they need replacement mostly around 6 months or is it earlier?

Based on your measurements, how soon have you seen them fail?
