hi i have a almost two year old bearded dragon named smaug for like the first 2 months i had him i had him on sand then i switched to the repti carpet once i found out sand was bad then for the rest of almost two years i have had him on excavator clay the clay mimics his natural habitat and there's no chance of impaction once it dries and he can dig in it just like he would in the wild

I've used excavator clay since I got Dex when he was 6 weeks. I haven't used anything else. He has never once been impacted and he's about 5 months now. It's easy to clean and has very little crumble. Amazing stuff I agree! :)
