So I have had my beardy for a few months now, he is about six months old and seems to be very healthy and happy, but the problem im having is that I can't train him. When i first got him I let him sit in his cage for about a week and get used to his new home, and then i slowly began training him by putting my hand next to him, feeding him crickets, etc, and then I worked my way up to petting him, and he didnt seem to mind that, and then i actually got him to the point where i could pick him up, give him baths, watch tv with him, etc. But then i left my house for one weekend (I had family taking care of him) and when I came back he wouldnt let me pick him up, though i could still pet him, and over the past few weeks its gotten worse and worse to the point that i cant even put my hand in his cage without him running away. I love my beardy and I really would like to bond with him again :( what can I do to gain his trust back?

Leave a shirt with your smell in the cool end of his cage. Leave it there for a week. After the week try and pick him up but it sounds like your family member grabbed him and shocked him

I have 2 beardies all really tame and friendly but after a weekend away one of them became really aggressive (I thought the same - my friend looked after them and must have shocked her somehow I did ask but didn't really get an idea of what happened) when she bit me (out of defence) I let her stay in my hand and when she let go I stroked under her beard (she's always loved it) and it may take a few minutes but eventually she would calm down and I would be able to play with her. She did bite a few times and even drew blood but she was really scared when I put my hand in the vivarium so I really wanted her to know I wasn't going to hurt her. It only took 1 week and she was back to normal.
Hope that helps :)
