Hi there,
We have a bearded dragon around 5 months old. His front right foot started getting swollen and turned dark brown about 2 months ago so we took him to where we bought him and she said the shed had strangled around his foot. She soaked him and removed it all. He seemed to get better but about 3 weeks later it was swollen again. We took him to the vet and they provided antibiotics and something for swelling. It went down within a few days. But recently he’s been loosing toes! This isn’t a problem as long as he’s not in pain but the last few days it seems like his foot is swollen again and turning dark brown almost black again and seems to be going up his arm. He’s running around and eating good and is playful with us but I’m still worried that it is going to spread to his whole body and he’ll die. Does that happen or do they just loose their arm? It is something we constantly worry about. He is my 8 year old sons best friend and I would hate for something to happen, but if it’s inevitable I would like to know so we can mentally prepare ya know? Thanks so much
Renee

If you can get on top of any infection and stop it from spreading, I don’t think your beardie will die. I think beardies can live with missing limbs, but I am far from a pro so I can’t advise on what to do! I hope you guys are able to get on top of the issues and your beardie will recover and thrive - x

U can get a product called “betadine” bearded dragon owners use it for scale rot and other kinds of cuts and bruises (make it diluted a ratio of 1to5 parts water), this sounds very serious if it’s spreading, he might need medication to stop the infection at this point , please in the future bearded dragons need help with shed on their toes, tail tips eyes and nose, make shure hes getting baths atleast once a week to keep him clean , help with shedding and to help him poo, can we see his home please and tell me what kind of bulbs you are using (coil bulbs are bad and can have negative health affects) his basking area needs to be 90-100 degrees, is he getting veggies? What kinds of bugs is he eating?
