What do you guys think of this type of leash? They call it the HIP LEASH.

Has anybody here ever used one like this or seen it being used ???

It seems to me that it will be VERY secure as there is no way the BD can get out of it. No matter how straight they make their back legs. BUT can it hurt him/her if they squirm? By hurt I mean if it pulls around the back hip area, will it be harmfull. I dont know much about their anatomy and was curious.

IDK either.

Ive heard so many conflicting stories about the other type as well and all seems to possible.
Like the "lizzard leash that goes around the chest and fastens on the back) - Like you and me have.
Ive heard it can restrict / constrict their lungs and thus their breathing which is BAD. If you make it looser than that then they manage to wriggle free also BAD.

With this one theres no possibilityof breathing issues OR wriggling free BUT maybe it hurts around the hip area or uppper legs. See why I'd like opinions.

And please everyone say as you wish, I honestly want your opinions and views on this one.

Personally I think it would be fine as long as it's not too tight and if they don't pull on it. Most of us just use the leashes and harneses as a "what if they hop off our shoulder" type thing which I think is fine.

What if you used a different kind of fabric that does rub as much (felt) then it would be less painful. Maybe? Or like a soft foam that you can cover the cord with.

HMMM... ??? that looks like an instant spinal dislocation to me if they happen to jump of with a bit of force and that leash "hangs" them by the hips.

That is what I was thinking. To me it looks like it could really pull the back legs which would do damage to the spine. I am still waiting for the safety ones that Pogie designed. lol

that hit it.
At the point where the "drawstring buckle" would rest, a sudden snap would dislocate the tail from the spine.

OK I am convinced.

Now another question about the "harness types" Is it true about it being able to restrict their breathing?
What would be the signs of it being too tight?

Heres a pic of Pogie and how tight I make it, anything looser than this and she gets free within a split second. She does this "croc roll" thingy and 1 2 3 shes out of it

See how it pulls just below where it fastens ??? And it makes this funny GAP in front on her upper chest

I've never had a issue with restricted breathing. Honestly I think you would have to really tighten it too much before any issues popped up.
Your harness looks fine. I always snugged mine up like that too.

Mine is snug like that as well and have never seen a breathing issue. Oscar will walk around the yard all day in his and not go to sleep so I don't think it restricts breathing.

your welcome. I know you helped me feel better today too with knowing Pogie only poops once a week too. I was kind of worried but can relax now knowing others do or should I say don't do it.

Pogie sure is pretty. Both Draco and Sadie have a similar harness. Theres is not leather though. They both dont seem to have breathing issues with it. Draco hates it, but he can breathe.
Maybe its Just the leather. Sometimes leather will "bend" funny when it is new. I use to make medicine bags, and book covers. I know it can be stiff. That doesnt mean its hamrful though.
