hmmmm interesting article Candice. Funny how this governments wants to control everything.

Anyways......it ain't much, but ya'll can come rob my stock of bulbs....which start in the CASES, and probably a few dozen of each.

If this involved lighting necessary for maintenance of health ..........wouldn't depriving this hobby of that lighting be somewhat............inhumane and unethical? By all means, start an animal rights movement!!!!

If "reptile lights" aren't included in this then we will just be told to purchase the overpriced incandescents at the pet stores. With them being the only ones available to us I can see the prices going even higher. I think it would be unethical as well but I can see them coming up with a sorry excuse saying to use heat rocks and CHEs. People suck

I don't know but I think this fits perfectly in the government's plan to destroy our hobby and I think they are aware of this to some extent as well.

Isnt going to hurt us as much as you think. You can always purchase a CHE to run in conjunction with a low wattage CFL.
Also, there is nothing that says that the new "updated" form of a incandescent bulb will not put out heat (the main point of concern for those of us in this hobby). Push come to shove we will have to adapt and overcome. No matter how many bulbs you stock up on you will still eventually run out.

I think they are trying to avoid these lights putting out heat so I highly doubt the newer updated ones will give any heat. My area has already nearly stopped selling incandescents already.

So we adapt and overcome. There are alternatives to incandescent bulbs. We will survive.

Been stocking up since mid-last year (40W,60W,75W) that initiative already started in OZ a couple of years ago. So they are slowly disappearing and being replaced by earth friendly (not reptile) CFLs. There are new E27 mount 240V halogen bulbs coming into the market that don't need a transformer or ballast in OZ but only from specialist reptile suppliers at this time. I am awaiting my order to start trialliong them as soon as my scalies are out of brumation. 20W halogen = 50W incandescent in heat output, power bills go up and up each year, I need to start cutting cost lol.

Links to one supplier that is actually supplying "UV emitting" Holgens.

(coupled with flouros, these halogens would be a great alternative to MVBs and a big power saver)

Alternative lights to MVBs (check out the desert 50W and 70W write up)
