Not the first time it's happened but it's been a long time. Had one of them out this evening for awhile sitting up on my shoulder. Suddenly she climbed down onto my arm, then tail went up and I just knew what was coming next. it really stank too. I guess she didn't want to go in her enclosure. Good news is I got a stool sample to take to the vet if I can get her in. She's growing but just isn't gaining any weight. She weighs the same as she did ten days ago and just hasn't been eating much. She's active, just don't have much of an appetite. It's hot here, supposed to be 113 tomorrow with the heat index, hope I can get her in early.

Stinky poop is a good indicator for parasites. Dolly had really bad smelling poop that you could smell when you walked in the door of the apartment. I had a fecal done and she had pinworms. We treated her for it and now her poop only smells if you get really close to it.

Do you live in the midwest? That's what we got going on here right now. The only good thing about the weather is that my horn worm moths are starting to hatch. I got one yesterday and 9 more that need to turn.

I live in Saint Louis, Mo. Heat index was 99 at 10 am yesterday and it's supposed to be hotter today. Been calling reptile vets since 8 but so far all their rep vets are off on Friday. If there is something wrong I want to get treatment started as soon as possible. The other vets open at 9 so will be calling again soon.I hope to get lucky.

Best I could do was Monday at 9 am. On call if there is a cancellation on Saturday. Vet is only 10 minutes away, hope there is a cancellation tomorrow. I called every reptile vet in a 50 mile radius and it's the best I could do.

You can keep the poop in a baggie in the fridge, just push all the air out of it, it should be okay until Monday.

Actually tried a couple more and found one open Sunday and got a 9:15. I will keep it in the fridge in a diabetic test strip bottle, cancelled the Monday appointment. Going to drop her off so she can be observed before treating and pick her up afterwards.

Thanks, I hope to get her appetite back soon. She's acting like a normal beardie, waving both arms but hasn't eaten anything but collard greens and only when I feed her by hand. She drinks plenty of water and is liking her baths now. She went poo in her bath for the first time yesterday..

She does have pin worms but it's normal for beardies to have some in their system according to the vet. She doesn't have a lot but I told her to treat her for them anyway. She's giving me a protein diet that I can feed her with a syringe until she gets her appetite back. She's starting a shed which could also account for her lack of appetite. One thing that I didn't think about is her fluorescent lighting came with a 1/8 inch shield over the bulb and the vet said this would block some uvb from getting to her. Also took out the crushed walnut bedding she had and replacing it with carpet. Vet said she actually looks really good. Maybe this dad just worries too much. I'm supposed to pick her up in a little while.

Yes it is normal for them to have some pin worms it's when they get stressed that they can get overloaded...If you are going to have her treated for them you want to give her a probiotic powder to help get her gut flora normalized especially after a treatment that can be hard on them. I get my powders from http://www.beardeddragon.co/ I do slurries a couple times a week of probiotic, dandelion, alfalfa, bee pollen mixed with some gerber baby food (all naturals) squash or sweet potato... It has really made a difference in my female who wasn't eating on her own for awhile..

Oh yea you gotta take that shield off for sure.. I'm glad to hear your going to carpet over the walnut, I stay clear of any loose substrate. In both of my 40's I use ceramic tiles, with repti carpet pieces with some fleece where they sleep for comfort.. Tiles are great for clean up and helps with nails...

I already had bee pollen and just ordered probiotic powder, Mazuri insectivore diet and electrolyte powder, sugar free raspberry. Couldn't get just one item. Thanks for the help Hdrydr31. Why do they put the shields on to begin with, doesn't make sense .

Well for normal use of the lighting isn't for beardies :) so having the plastic on is aesthetics...
Glad you got some powder...

I tried something different this morning and put her into a clear plastic tote that she can't climb out of and added six dusted crickets. She ate five of them, first protein that I've seen her eat in 5 days so we are headed in the right direction. As long as she eats this way then I won't be putting crickets into her tank anymore. Might do this with the others as well. My new girl is coming Wednesday.

That's a great way of doing it that way you also know that there are no loose crickets in the tank hiding only to come out at night and nibble on a sleeping dragon...

Glad she ate something. When I treated Dolly for pinworms she had a great appetite after I gave her the first dose and then after the second dose she didn't want to eat much. She got lots of stuff, probiotics that I actually mixed with water, dandelion powder, calendula powder, bee pollen. It's been a few months and she is still a picky eater but she's eating. Beardeddragon.co is a dangerous web site because everything is so cheap that you feel like you need one of everything!

She ate three more crickets last night and six this morning plus a super worm. I tried it with Archer as well and he ignored the crickets. Put him back in his tank and he ate everything in sight. I'm going to be putting him in a larger 55 gallon tank to make room for the new girl that's coming tomorrow. He's doing so well thatI hate moving him but he's grown over four inches in a month and a half.

lol the boys grow I think much faster :) I know my Simon sure has for sure!! I got both of mine in 40 breeders I did have my female in a 55g and for her it worked as she doesn't move around alot...BUT Simon moves around alot and he's already 17 1/2 long pushing 18" and I wouldn't put him in the now empty 55g he wouldn't have enough room to turn around well. just food for thought for your growing boy.
