I'm a new beardie owner and have been doing a lot of learning in this last week I have had him/her. I've seen a lot of different things online on what the temperature should be in the basking area and on the cooler side. I also am just using the temperature gauges that came with the cage I got. I'm wanting to get a gun that would maybe take a better temperature check. I feel like its not warm enough in there right now because he doesn't seem very alert. I think I need a higher wattage of bulb. If I could get some advice that would be greatly appreciated.

How are you doing, is your beardie a baby if so the basking area should be 105-110 and the cool side should be in the 80’s. If yours isn’t a baby anywhere from 95-100 is good. If your beardie is to hot he/she will move to the cool side and vice versa. I would recommend a temp gun because the temp gauges that come with the tank is not accurate you can order them on Amazon. I would also recommend a humidity gauge as well.

Thank you. I ordered that gun today and will hopefully get it soon. He is still a baby. Also what wattage of bulb would you recommend?
