I need to set up an enlocure that is portable so I can take Gus with me when I travel to visit family, and his tank is way to heavy for me to transport by my self (yes I have to take him with me. That or put him in pet hotel for over a week at a time) So, for travel I thought about a fabric cat/dog carrier with a towel for him to lay on and maybe one of those pocket heating pads under the towel.

And for an enclosure maybe a large plastic storage bin. I found screens at Petco that may fit the top. And I was going to put some of his items from his tank in it so he has something familiar.

What do y'all think? Any suggestions?

I think the hardest thing is going to be is his heat needs and keeping them where they need to be so he can digest. Will have to think on this one (still waking up here... lol)

I was thinking of a container like this but much bigger. I think I need about 120 quarts

Most likely the same as I have on his permanent enclosure. Will just play around with the heat light to get the correct temps.

You want to make sure that the plastic isn't going to melt or put off harmful toxins when it heats up. If it's going to be a short time maybe just a 20 gal tank with some hides in it.

you know I was thinking that too Patsy it's not too small for short term it can be a mini set up and yet still be manageable to move. And they have the mesh tops for those.

Oh man I did not think about it. Some of the time will just be a few days or a week. But during the summers it will be two months as we travel for work most of the summer. Hopefully this summer he will be big enough to allow to run around. Would a 20 gallon be fine for a couple of months?

Ya. I'll look into the 20 gallon tanks tomorrow. That may be better for him then a tub. I'm sure I can load it on a blanket or something in truck so it won't break

Do you travel to the same place? or is it always different? you're going to need to do something about his food needs too... Maybe a 20L that would be better than just the 20

During summers it's different locations. We stay in rv parks. They let us have packages sent to their offices so we won't have any problems ordering food.

Oh so do you have a 5th wheel RV, so you can make him a summer home :) it's just space that's an issue then.. (we used to own a 5th wheel so I get the space issue)

ya. It's a 5th wheel. Two adults, two dogs, and now a beardy baby. I removed a recliner and kids toys r stacked there. Thinking of moving toys and putting him in that spot. Husband wants him on the desk, but I don't think that spot will be big enough. I don't want to have to move him, cause he's still not likeing me very much but I don't think we have to travel any for at least another month. Just trying to get everything set up now. One less thing to worry about later

Ah yes we had a 32' 2 adults, 3 cats, 1 large dog and a 7gal fish tank with 2 fish in it :) lived in it for 6months as we moved from CO. We gave up the kitchen table area that side slide out cat food/water ontop, litter box under table, on ledge of slide out was the fish tank :) got rid of a recliner type chair and put a small cat post next to the TV lol
Glad your getting ready ahead of time makes for less stress on you all :)
