Tank sizing/setup

Hi! I was given a 30 gal tank to start out with which I know is fine right now. But is it going to be necessary to upgrade the 10 gallons to the 40 when the baby becomes bigger? I also read somewhere online that they can usually grow to the size of there surroundings/habitat anyways? Or is that just a fallacy?

Also, is there a "best" way to setup up what furniture I have in my tank meaning what things to put on what side, the cold or hot side? Food dish, hammock, (mind you I have a basking/hiding rock also) etc..?

Typically you want to have a place to hide on both the cool side and the warm side along with a basking spot and a food dish.

I started mine out in their 40 gallon. As they got bigger I ended up taking out a lot of their stuff to make sure they had space to walk around. Now each of mine have a hammock on the warm side, a hide on the cool side and a basking spot and a food bowl. They have just enough room to walk around or in Luci's case run around.
