I can get a tank thats 48"x12"x21" or 36"x18"x18" I figure the first one is better cause its longer but its kind of narrow? please advise. Thanks!

Or should I just go with the 48"x18"x21"?

I always say min of a 40 gal they have 40 gal viv's that are square in shape and that works.. They get about 24" long some longer depending on the dragon..

So the width doesn't matter so much? 12" vs 18"

Personally if I had the space I would have a wide and long tank. :)
. I have a 55 gal tank so it's a foot deep but it works as she's got the length to move around.

You want a tank that they can comfortably sit in. I would go with something that is twice as long as an adult dragon may be and at least as wide and tall as an adult would be. The 36x18x18 is perfect. The 48x 18x 21 is really good. I would avoid the twelve. You don't need a tank that is real high but should have something that the beardie can't just stand up and climb out of.

For example, I have a 36x18x18 and My 3 year old is 18 1/2 inches long. So it's just the right size for her.

We were going to name him Thorn but my 4 yr old kept saying Thoran. So he is Thoran

OMG he is adorable!!! I just love baby beardies!! soo cute and look soo tiny in big tanks :)
Do you have a digital temp probe or hand held temp gun? those stick on ones don't work for a few reasons just cheap and well our little ones are not on the glass.

The one with the wire do you have it permanently set in the tank?

yes you can if you want and some do, everytime I leave mine in Izzy's tank she tries to bite the wire lol so I just leave it there to take temps then remove.. or I use the hand held one

So cute! I have that same hide I love it! My fat boy used to wedge into it and go to sleep, now my girl uses it just to prop herself up! Here is a picture of the thermometer that most people use. When I was using it I had two one on the cool side and the other one attached right to the basking spot with a twist tie or something, you want to know what the the temp is in spot your dragon is going to sit.

Here is a picture. you can get it at most stores that sell pet supplies. I use an IR temperature gun now. With 3 bearded dragon tanks, 2 frog tanks and a chameleon cage it just made sense to get a temp gun.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm just going to buy a handheld temp gun and be done with it. I'm not a fan of wires going into the tank. Just a cleaner look without them. I'm ocd I guess! He had about 16 crickets and a little piece of papaya. Hungry little guy

I agree. I started out with the probe ones but then with my crazy boy running around I got worried about him getting hung up on the wires. That's one of the reasons I went with a temp gun.

I picked up a handheld IR temp sensor yesterday. I started with the mini version I didn't realize it took button batteries. I retuned it and got the bigger one that takes 9volt battery. I also picked up a heavy duty appliance timer with 2 outlets and battery backup. I am now untethered from turning the lights on and off [emoji1]

You will love having the lights on a timer!
