Hey, it's Opal's mom Natalie,
I have a quick question about where to put Opal's Tank in my room. Now that she's living with
me full time ❣️ I have temporarily let her sit on the window sill during the day at nite she's on my bed with blankets & heat!
NOW b4 anyone gives me grief please hear me out.
I need to figure out what's best for her. My concerns are several.
1st is... Having the tank in front of the window, (IMO only) are
PROS- She's used to that spot & likes it? I think?
CONS- Warmth! although we live at the coast in CA. temps are mild be can drop to 39°F a few weeks/yr.
Also I did have a large tall tomatoes plant in front of the window w/a lg. plastic cover on it. It's
no longer there. So she sees the sky!! I had to put some opaque vinyl on my window to help her
from seeing the seagulls & crows flying around!

2nd... Against the wall-
PROS- Heat, it would be better for controlling/regulating the temps.
It would alleviate the big open sky of birds, plus she'd still be able to see out the window
from her tank, without getting stressed if a bird is going to get her.
CONS- Moving the tank to a different. spot. I know they get moved at times I just don't know about
how much stress it does cause.

I know Im a smart person & should realize what the best spot is for her ; however I tend to way overthink things & I really just need a gentle kind nudge in the right direction
Which is why Im asking you what your thoughts are on this.

Thank you for any input you have!!

Birds can cause stress - its nice tho if they can look out the window but you need to keep an eye on the temps in the tank - direct sun will cause them to heat up - please use digital probe thermometers for surface basking temps where she sits for basking 95-100 - ambient temps should be around 100 on the hot side and cool side of the tank 80ish during the day - temps at night 65-75 ambient - I would watch her behavior if shes placed at the window if she is showing signs of distress black bearding I would move her

Thank you Sadie ! I think Im going to move her tank to the wall side in my bedroom. I do work some nites till 9:30 although I've got everything on timers she can get cold if she's up against the glass & that stresses me out way to much plus it is harder at the moment not being able to totally control the temps. Her tank will be maybe 5-6ft away from the window so she'll still be able to see out the window this way. Also when I'm not working she'll be out of the tank if she wants to be & will still sleep with me. I will post some photos soon of the lighting, heating & the completed tank.
Thanks again.

ps
I picked up the lighting, thermostat/prob gauges, heat emitter & vitamins by what you recommend for other members. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, info & experience with us!!
