ok so i noticed my youngin's tail is a little shorter than normal. i figured it was a cricket nip, but then i was playing with his tail just now and a little tiny piece came off the tip. it's not black or anything, but it does seem to have a dent about half an inch from the tip. they get a bath about once a week. not sure if it's tail rot or something else...

It very well could be tail rot. I would watch if for a couple of days and if it doesnt get better, go to the vet.

Hmm...by saying the tip came off, was it a shed that came off or an actual part of his tail? Definitely keep an eye on it to see if an infection or something doesn't look right.

Is there anything in your viv that he could have gotten it caught?

Take a good look at the viv. I would remove anything that might get his tail caught.

Tail Rot is just as it sounds. oozing, odor, infection.

Without that, most likely what you're seeing is the result of constriction from unshed skin.
Try using some olive or mineral oil to coat the tail end just after their soak for a few days

yea, he doesn't have any of those symptoms. i guess i'll try using some olive oil then. it sure doesn't look like there's any skin leftover. it doesn't seem to look painful, but its horrible that little pieces come off.

Hope all is fine with the little guy, mine only has half a tail due to the wonderful people I rescued him from housing all the dragons together...as another dragon bit it off....hence is name...Stubs....
