Superworms for Juvenile Beardy?

My bearded dragon is a little over a foot long in length and I'm wondering if it's ok to feed it superworms. I've been feeding Dubias and crickets but the way he's going through the Dubias it's costing me a fortune. The reptile shop I buy my food at said the supers are a good feeder and they aren't very costly. I bought some but I only gave him one yesterday and I'm monitoring his stool to make sure he can handle it. I've read conflicting views on what age/size it's ok to feed them supers. Any comments and thoughts are appreciated.

I kinda remember the rule of thumb being 15 inches and you can feed them anything. I think you can probably feed him a few small or medium supers here and there along with his dubias and crickets. Make sure he's good and hydrated to help things pass. Understand his bowel habits will probably change. If he went every day or a few times a day he may start to go every other day or so.

Yes I'm being very cautious. Fed him one today with his Dubias. Keeping an eye on his stool for sure.

And you know your dragon, you watch him every day so you will know if there is a problem. Luci is 2 and he's 17 inches long. I've been giving him large supers since he was about 7 months old. I watched him closely to make sure he was chewing them properly and watched his poop. Like I said, at first he stopped going every day but it's just fine. Now sometimes he will go once a day and sometimes it's every 3 days.

I've been feeding Izzy supers since she was 6-7 months old, I am at home so I can keep an eye on her. But at first I would only give her the smaller ones until I knew how she would do with them.. Mostly she eats Dubia's.. Yes they can be expensive but if you keep your own colony once they are up and reproducing you won't have to keep buying them...Also remember while they are growing they will eat alot then they slow down some..

Spyro pooped again today without issue. Only giving one worm plus Dubias or crickets a day to start.
Good!! Glad to hear going the safe route is always best until you get used to your little one :) Lately my Izzy only want's Dubia's so they change their habits too :)

Getting dubis at the pet store can get expensive. Look on craigslist – just be sure to meet the person in a well lit public area. I've never had a problem – typically meet at a gas station. And you can get some pretty good prices – I just bought 100 small and medium for $20. You can buy online too. And breed
