Are those feeder boys for your Beardie? They look huge!

No, although I think my older beardie might be able to handle one. I am trying to breed super worms. So far I only have 4 beetles. By the looks of things I will probably have some worms soon too LOL!

I jumped on here to get website you gave me to order some worms....and now I am thinking I have to order 500 if she don't eat them all I will get beetles.

so now I ask you...how many a day should I feed her....she will eat as many as I give her.

Super worms last a long time. I ordered 1000 back in Feb and I'm still feeding them off! Mine turned into beetles because I made them. I separated them and let them turn. My thinking was because my chameleon needed small worms but by the time I actually get worms, he will be big enough to eat the large ones!

Those beetles look too much like roaches. I couldn't have those in my house. No way. I know the dubias are really good for Beardies but I just can't go there.

I can't do roaches either but these guys are kinda cool! They aren't as fast as roaches.

I wish my beardies appreciated the fears I get past just to feed them. I can handle most of their feeders but tonight cleaning their mustard greens I came across so many tiny creepy crawlies I almost just tossed the whole bunch! Guess they really were "organic", LOL!

I don't like spiders or centipedes! I will run and scream if I see them! I have a pair of shoes sitting in the hallway, my favorite pair, but I can't go near them because there is a spider right next to them LOL! I can handle the food that my babies eat though because I know they need those to survive. So I suck it up for them and try to see the beauty in them and it helps get over the fear.

It's interesting to watch the beetles. The male is so aggressive with the others. There was one on the ramp with him and he literally just pushed it off just to push it!

They have a great setup, I think I'm going to try to copy you! I have had my moments when I've enjoyed watching them too! I had a cardboard cup holder, I think from McDonalds, and cut ¼ of it out to give to them. They loved climbing it and making holes on the top and poking their head out, it was actually kind of cute. I had turkey one time and one of the superworms came right up to my fingers and was eating it until the others started coming over. Finally he snatched it from my fingers and sunk deep into the substrate with it lol.

My container got ambushed by fruit flies and most of the superworms died off. I went to dump and clean it this past weekend and was surprised to find a huge beetle! It was copper colored though and looked similar in the top part to yours but the bottom part didn't open up like yours. So what was mine?! Because of the fruit fly invasion, I didn't keep it but that was the first time I ever had one turn. Now I think I will try to turn more.

I gave the worms some egg crates and they did the same thing, they liked to hide under them. You need to be careful what goes into your substrate especially when it starts to get warm outside because mold will start to grow on the substrate. Before the beetles turn black, they are a red color, I wonder if that is what yours was.

Oh ok, that makes sense. Yeah, I had forgotten and left veggies in the container for a few days, there was definitely mold in the substrate...yuck!
