We'd had so much trouble getting Mohg to chase her crickets that we broke down and hand fed her...
The HORROR! Did you know that crickets will rip their own legs off to get out of the vice grips of a pair of tweezers. We like to save bugs in our house...not torture them.
Tonight, we successfully did an out of tank feeding in a tall-walled sterilite bin with paper towels on the bottom, a rock, and a regular light bulb clamped in to keep it warm.
It was similar enough to her 40 gal breeder setup that she actually ate some crix! Of course, she waited for them to simply walk in front of her...but when it was all over, she went back into her cricket-free tank and the leftovers went back into the keeper ^_^
We are so happy and just wanted to share this tiny, though highly momentous, piece of success with everyone. It's been a week and a half of struggling to get her to eat, and it's so satisfying to know that she got a good meal on her own tonight.
What were your meal-time difficulties, and how did you handle them?
