Just procuring supplies to set up home for new dragon, and would love to read input on the subject of substrates, and use of excavator clay. Any thoughts appreciated.

Id recommend you start with paper towels/tile (so the dragon isn’t eating the substrate, so u can monitor its poos) just to be safe (baby dragons can be stupid) once uve had him for a couple months then id highly recommend substrate, there’s all kinds of options, bark chips, sand, clay, mixtures of substrate (coco fiber, spagnum moss, garden soil (NO FERTS) look up “serpa design” on YouTube, he did a bioactive beardy enclosure. I personally have a little bit of everything, the things to look out for and NOT GET are anything super dusty, anything that can clump together (most sands arnt suitable, you want specifically “play sand”) i love substrate, its easy to clean , looks good (unlike tile) and it gives ur beardy enrichment by digging in it. :)
