Sorry this is kinda long. I know I talk about him in bits and pieces but here's the story on my Luci boy. He hates being in his tank and constantly wants out. We let him roam freely around the house as much as we can when we are home to let him burn some energy. Our floors are light gray carpet. We had ceramic tile in his tank for awhile but it wasn't sized properly so he always made a bunch of noise rearranging things and he filed his nails real short so for a few months we had him on newspaper. In the last month we've had him on repti carpet. In his tank he has a driftwood basking spot and a magnetic ledge and a hammock, a small half log and his food bowl.

I've noticed recently that the underside of both his back feet are discolored. I always assumed that it was from the newspaper and it would go away. He gets a bath once a week and I scrub his feet hoping it will help. The one foot looks a little like stuck shed but now I'm not really sure what it is.

Today I gave him a good long soak, subbed his feet and cleaned them with some diluted betadine. I also rubbed some reptile shedding aid on.

What do you guys think?

He's not in any pain. He runs fine, I touch and squeeze his feet there's no reaction. Which makes me think it's just discolored or stuck shed that will look better once he sheds.

Rub mineral oil on it, should remove stuck shed (if thats what it is I can't see what the picture is on my phone). If it doesnt come off it's probably ink rub off. (why I dont use newspaper)

Thanks EDL. I'll get some mineral oil tomorrow. I just rubbed some coconut oil on them and he was fine. My instinct is it just needs to shed. He's hit a plateau now and hasn't shed in about a month So i guess I'm just a little antsy.

@Elemental Dragon Lord where do I find mineral oil? I went to Walgreens and looked by the first aid stuff but couldn't find it. I then looked at Walgreens online and the only thing I could find was mineral oil for laxative. Is that what I use or is it different?

Patsy - Heavy mineral oil is used internally as a laxative. light mineral oil is used topically as an emollient. Light mineral oil is really really hard to find (who wants to put that ___ on their skin? YUCK !) use what ever you can get - i promise, it wont get absorbed through the skin and produce an increase in excrement !

Update: Luci shed his feet this weekend and all the nastiness is gone! He spent a week or two in a real tough shed on his back legs and he actually didn't move around his tank much. I did find mineral oil, we tried that along with baths and coconut oil. Now that the skin has come off he is back to his normal self driving me crazy running around and rearranging his tank.
