Strangest Behavior

Rex should be the subject of strange behavior patterns in bearded dragons. This guy refuses to keep any habits at all. Like he used to go to the bathroom in one spot at a particular time. Now he go's only when he is outside the viv and namely on something of cloth material that will have to be laundered! Is there any method to encourage a more regular bowel movement time for him? Or should I just be prepared for him to crap on something every time I have him out of the viv for a little while? Another weird thing. He HATES baths. I left him on my bathroom counter on the old shirt he likes to lounge on (of course he pooped on it). So he jumped off the counter into a heap of dirty clothes on the floor and made his way to the side of my shower/bath combo. Well he kept trying to climb the wall and get in there so I figured I'd take him in there to show him that he wouldn't enjoy it. To my surprise he just laid there in my hand while the warm water sprayed him and actually seemed to be enjoying it. Weird. So I sat him back outside the shower on the floor mat and he started trying to get back in the shower! Every day it's something new with this strange little dude.

most of my adults poop in the bath. Its something that takes time to "teach"(quoted as its not really a trained thing so much as they know ill take em outta the bath when they go)

Oh my gosh, Spike is also very strange, I thought it was only him. I feel better now knowing he isn't the only one. ;D

So you give them a bath every day Brian?

no as adults they slow down quite a bit on the eating and BMs. My adults pass a bm twice a week. Now the babies yes they get a bath every day and my one juvi gets a soak every 2 days.

Yip I can testify to the BM changes.
Pogie used to daily round noon.
When she shed it was every second day
Now that shes passed the 12 month mark it is once a week

I was worried about the once a week thing but since she didn't have any knots that I could feel and when she goes she GOES a lot, I can see a change is her belly size, I figured she was fine. Just feel better knowing there is another once a week pooper out there.

Yeah I know how you feel Sandra. It really freaked me out too. I was poking and prodding her at first to make sure all was well.
And YUP when the once a weekers go . . . Boy do they go ;D

this pooping problem is getting on my nerves. li b@stard keeps shitting on me and other things outside his viv. He keeps taking these "mini" craps after he has already pottied once or twice that day and it isnt diarhhea, just small poo.

Humm...that is a bit different. Normally at their age once or twice (at the most) a day is normal. I can see him "going" if you are holding him because of your body temp, but to just go outside his tank after he already did is a bit odd.

If you left him in his viv....would he do that during the day (meaning going more than 2x and just little ones here and there)

That is really strange then. How often does he poop out of his tank?

Within the past few days he has pooped outside of his viv no less than 4 times. One or two won't bother me, but this is getting f-in ridiculous. Is there any way to teach a lizard that doing something is a "no no". Given their size etc I would assume "spanking" or "swatting" isn't viable. And no it isn't diarrhea. Every day with this guy is a new challenge.

I think Im just gonna keep him in the viv for a few days to sort out his bowel issues. At the same time I can observe approximately what time his BM's are.
