Strange Behavior

Two of my dragons acted very strange when each was offered a waxworm. They both ducked their head and the juvenile rubbed his face on the floor. What does this mean?

Maybe they don't like them or they had a bad experience with them in the past. Dexter bit me once real hard when I was feeding her strawberry slices. Now whenever I try to feed her something with my hands, she turns and backs away from me.

Sorry they will ALWAYS be neurotic LOL! Mine have so many quirks that I just have to shake my head at them.

So speaking of wax worms. I know meal worms are on the dangerous side but since wax worms are softer do you guys think they are safer? My friend said they can still eat through the stomach. I'm just worried about feeding them to my 2 month old, but he LOVES them. Any advise before I buy some online?

It's just a myth that they chew through their stomach. Bearded dragons have sharp teeth and strong jaw bones that whatever they eat is going to be killed before it hits the stomach. If it's not killed, the stomach acids will do it. Watch them eat one day you will see how well things get chewed up and pushed around with their tongue.

Good to know! I ordered some hornworms and dubias last night so maybe they will start eating on their own.
