Hi all! Ive decided to try my hand at superworm breeding and I thought I'd keep you updated on the process.

So last night I went to walmart and bought a storage container that you can put dividers in to make up to 24 seperate compartments. Its was only $5 and I found it in the sporting section with the tackle boxes.

I took a thick nail and heated it up and poked a hole in the lid above each compartment. (This is a easy solution if you dont have a drill)

I had bought 100 super worms at the local exotic pet store and sorted through them to find the 24 biggest ones. I put one in each compartment and now we wait.

Stay tuned :)

Ok y'all its been 2 weeks exactly since I started this superworm project and heres how its going. It looks like 4 have turned into pupa and a few more didnt make it.
These guys curl up and become pretty much comletely still and then they do one more molt to end up like these albino looking butterfly's without wings.
Looks like we're making progress!

We have beetles! About 3/4 of the pupa hatched into beetles. I got a 3 drawer system from walmart and put whole grain oats at the bottom. (It should be about an inch deep, I need to get more) I put the super worms I already had in the 2nd drawer and the beetles in the top. The babies will end up im the bottom drawer.
Im putting in carrots or bits of potatoes every few days to help with the humidity.

That's awesome! I just did step one today! I put individual worms into a tackle container. Can't wait to see how things go!

Don't let any of those beatles get loose. They live for a long time. Caught one crawling on my back while I was sleeping. Next day, whiped out my whole colony haha Never again!
