I'm leaving it to Dexter to tell me herself. She's just over a year old and she still prefers her bugs to greens although, she doesn't eat as many crickets as she used to. I offer her both each day and she decides how much of what she wants to eat.

Ok. I ask because Alex is 17 inches long already (holy crap!) and he still is obsessed with crickets but i dont feed him as many because when he eats more than 15 of the larger ones (3/4-1 inch) he has a hard time digesting them and doesnt poop the next day. As a result i feed him 30 crickets a day and a whole buffet of greens and fruit:)

I hear you about the size! How'd they get so big so fast? Dex is 17 inches too and just like overnight she got this giant head with these huge jowls (I call them jiggle jowls)!

Why do you think he has a hard time digesting the crickets? Because he doesn't poop the next day? or are there whole crickets or blood in his poop? It's okay for them not to poop everyday as long as you keep him hydrated and he isn't struggling to go then he should be okay with the size crickets he's eating.

Well i only noticed him not pooping every day when he ate more crickets than he could chew(literally). He keeps them in his beard till he has swallowed the others

My dragon is the same size as yours. She is more of an insect junkie too, but also eats greens and squash from time to time. She poops once a week. The longest she has gone was about two weeks. Each dragon is going to be a little different.

Yeah, every dragon is different. Hell, Dexter only poops in a bath. I was giving her weekly baths but could tell she looked uncomfortable by then, so I give her a bath every 2-3 days. Her poops come out fine though, smooth and no insect parts even if she occasionally gorges on super worms :)

Funny, mine is the exact opposite. As a juvenile she loved baths, but has grown to hate them. She only poops in her cage - she has never pooped in the bathtub. A few months ago I made the mistake of draping my arm in the tub so she could get out. She clawed up my arm pretty bad getting out of there!

It's pretty comical. I get her into there and can tell right away which way it's going to go. :) If she's thirsty she'll go spread-eagle and soak for a bit, but usually she stands there, shoulders broad, and her head cocked up at me as if to say, "Human, these conditions are unacceptable. Get me out!"

Now I'm smarter about it. After about 5 minutes I drape a towel over the side of the tub, and when she's ready she leaps onto it and claws up. Then I just pick up the towel and put it on my shoulder to dry her off.
