Its yet another HOT HOT day here in the south. When we moved in this house the backyard had almost no grass at all so we planted some. The new grass was starting to die from the lack of rain we have had so I turned on the sprinkler (its a full shade backyard so the sun can't burn it). Me and the kids played in the sprinkler for a while. Man it was so refreshing!!! Kids are still playing in it and when I get hot again time for me to walk through it again. Since we only did half the yard to test it to make sure the seed would take...the kids are covered in mud from getting wet then running in the dirt. Can't wait to get the rest planted and be done with this dirt yard, just waiting on the landlady to bring some over.

Kids....mud....the two go together like peanut butter and jelly! LOL!

Pink lemonade is very refreshing, too. Especially Country Time! ;D

I pulled some lemons off the tree just have not had a chance to make lemonade yet. I need to...its HOT!!! for the second day in a row we have been over 100 and the heat index is 108-110. It is so humid out you feel sticky when you walk out the door.

Definitely know that type of humidity. We deal with it all the time, here, in the St. Louis area. Sunday was extraordinarily hot and the humidity was pretty fierce.

By the way, drank some lemonade tonight....only to find out it was "strawberry-lemonade". Not sure I'm too keen on that! LOL!

Fresh lemonade.....Mmm....now you're making my mouth water. :p

not to sure I would like strawberry lemonade either.

My daughter makes me make everything fresh. She thinks it is the coolest thing in the world. Can't complain, its much healthier. My neighbor just gave me a ton of tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, onions and other veggies from her garden so I am making fresh salsa tomorrow too.

Oh my gosh! You have three lemon trees and aren't making fresh lemonade? Wow.....looks like things will be changing for you once they start producing fruit again. ;)

As Sandy makes it all the time, I'll let her share her recipe with you. I'd have to look one up. I just know when I get fresh lemonade at our local annual carnival, I can't get enough of it!

Just need to get some lemons and make some of my own once Sandy posts that recipe! :D

It really depends on how many lemons I have and I am one who does not measure things so I will do the best I can. First I make a sugar syrup by boiling water and sugar. Reduce the sugar water until you have a kind of thick but not took thick syrup, it should still pour like a liquid but be thicker than milk, maybe the about as thick as buttermilk. squeeze juice from lemons. add some water, about 4-5 cups of water to 2 cups of juice, then add sugar syrup to lemon and water mixture until sweeten to taste. put lemon slices in the pitcher let sit for a couple of hours then drink. I know, not very helpful. I will see what I can find on the internet as far as a real recipe.

you don't have to make a sugar syrup you can just dissolve sugar in hot water. I just like to make the syrup b/c to me it seems to taste better but no one can ever tell the difference in the two.

Oh and serve over ice of course.

here is what I make just makes more sense

Perfect Lemonade Recipe
Print Options

* Print (no photos)
* Print (with photos)

Ingredients

* 1 cup sugar (can reduce to 3/4 cup)
* 1 cup water (for the simple syrup)
* 1 cup lemon juice
* 3 to 4 cups cold water (to dilute)

Method

1 Make simple syrup by heating the sugar and water in a small saucepan until the sugar is dissolved completely.

2 While the sugar is dissolving, use a juicer to extract the juice from 4 to 6 lemons, enough for one cup of juice.

3 Add the juice and the sugar water to a pitcher. Add 3 to 4 cups of cold water, more or less to the desired strength. Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. If the lemonade is a little sweet for your taste, add a little more straight lemon juice to it.

Serve with ice, sliced lemons.

Geez....nothing happens when I click on "Print (with photos)". Are you sure that recipe really works?
