Hi all! My baby beardie (he’s actually 6 yrs) is a male named Reptar.

He has a normal 40 gallon enclosure with a basking light ranging from 75 watts to 125 watts (vet recently suggested upping this to avoid brumation). He eats mostly mealworms and an assortment of veggies with dusting of calcium and multivitamin. His humidity and heat are all within the normal range and there has been mo major changes in his environment, feeding or heat.

However, a few weeks ago he starting to do what looked like shedding. I didn’t think much of the loose skin until it started to actually gather fluid under the loose skin. We went to an emergency vet that specializes in reptiles. She suggested upping his temp as me might be under stress from wanting to brumate. After going home with a topical treatment and a series of 7 antibiotic shots, he has seen some improvement.

I would call it breaking even. The spots have gotten worse - I would describe them as blisters at this point and this under the skin redness has expanded through his neck and upper arm region. The anti-biotic is helping with his energy levels as he is moving more normally, swimming in the bath and eating. However, the coloring of the blisters is super concerning. Please see attached!

Those look like burns - what is the wattage of the bulb and how close is the bulb- please allow your dragon TO BRUMATE- that is in their nature and the vet should not be telling you to stop them - please get some unfiltered or pasteurized honey example Manuka honey put on the wounds it will stop infection and promote healing- NO crickets in the tank if your feeding them - I am going to flag Tracie to your post she's a vet tech
@Drache613
What is the surface basking temps and how are you taking them

I also thought about burns being an option but the fluid under the skin started before the change in heat??

I've got two people taking a look- your basking bulb should not be closer than 6 " please post a pic of your tank and lighting

Hello,

That does appear to be burns. Before you changed the heat/temperatures, how close was your
dragon to the basking bulb?
I would use some raw unpasteurized honey or silver gel on the areas so that they don't start to
get infected.
How is his appetite doing?

Tracie
